So, today the Conservative Party of Canada will elect a new leader. Most conservatives up here are wondering how bad of a shit show it's going to be and which squish will get the job. I miss Harper.

So I gather the restoration of the White House Rose Garden back to Jackie Kennedy's original 1962 plan is a gigantic Melania Antoinette Drumpfhitler racist dogwhistle.  And because of Drumpfhitler climate change tulips don't bloom in DC in August any more, like they did when Obama healed the planet.

Is there not even one good candidate with viable chances?

HA! There's Erin O'Toole, who's not too bad. Peter McKay who has a few issues. Lewis (can't spell her first name) who has no experience which is probably her strongest point. And someone else that I don't know squat about. McKay gets the nomination, the Conservative party is finished. O'Toole has a chance. But, no matter who gets the leadership the MSM will be portraying them to the the right of Genghis Khan.

It doesn't matter if Biden doesn't have any brain
They've nominated Kamala
The Democrats hope to rise in the polls again
By nominating Kamala
Ahh, ooooh ooooh ooooh girl
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Ahh, ooooh ooooh ooooh girl
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Notice how the bright lights shine
On nominee Kamala

As for no good choices when voting, the only contested race in my district's primary is the Senate.

Since this is Massachusetts, the Dumbocrat will win. Choices there are Ed Markey (leftist, Green New Deal supporter) and Joe Kennedy (same, but also believes life imprisonment is too cruel - even for the Marathon bomber.

I could choose the Republican ballot, but either of them is better.

Or just take the chance to vote against a Kennedy.

If you get to choose which party ballot you can use in the primary, it makes sense to vote for the nominally-better Democrat, then vote against him in the actual election.   It is, of course, a drop in the bucket, but one does what one can.

In Massachusetts, if you are not enrolled in a party, you get to choose the party ballot. Used to be that selected a party, and you had to fill out a form to be unenrolled from the party, but they stopped that due to the extra work for them.

Good Gnu (A Vignette in Verse)

When cares attack and life seems black,
How sweet it is to pot a yak,
      Or puncture hares and grizzly bears,
        And others I could mention;
But in my Animals "Who's Who"
No name stands higher than the Gnu;
      And each new gnu that comes in view
        Receives my prompt attention.

When Afric's sun is sinking low,
And shadows wander to and fro,
      And everywhere there's in the air
        A hush that's deep and solemn;
Then is the time good men and true
With View Halloo pursue the gnu;
      (The safest spot to put your shot
        is through the spinal column).

To take the creature by surprise
We must adopt some rude disguise,
      Although deceit is never sweet,
        And falsehoods don't attract us;
So, as with gun in hand you wait,
Remember to impersonate
      A tuft of grass, a mountain-pass,
        A kopje or a cactus.

A brief suspense, and then at last
The waiting's o'er, the vigil past;
      A careful aim. A spurt of flame.
        It's done. You've pulled the trigger,
And one more gnu, so fair and frail,
Has handed in its dinner-pail;
      (The females all are rather small,
        The males are somewhat bigger).

Liberals are busy crowing about the prospect of a double hurricane hitting Red states -- they want to see Drumpfhitler supporters drown.

What lovely people.

Leftists don't care how many people die if it is for the cause.

Cultural revolution? Holomodor? Killing fields? Necessary.

Deaths due to no energy and starvation due to the "Green New Deal"? Great; helps cut CO2 emission even more!

It's remarkable, but as you say, to be a liberal requires you to believe a whole bunch of things that are absurd, immoral, or both.

Kuiper belt - the area of the solar system where Pluto is. Lots of icy bodies there. (link)

Oort cloud: theoretical cloud of also icy bodies, much further away, technically outside the solar system but still bound to it. (link)

Of course, the Oort cloud identifies as a Roman water god; it is trans-Neptunian.
