Slept in till 9:00 ... lazy slug.

Sipping coffee thinking about what I've got to get done with Mrs. JCM out taking care of FIL.

Was up earlyish. Took care of some chores for the wife, and currently working on stripping a wood desk of latex paint. Good solid wood and the paint was a travesty in my eyes. Wife will know better for next time. :p

How are you feeling? Symptoms, etc.? I’m thinking perhaps you should just be taking it easy, just in case.

I slept in until about 930, and awakened after having a dream in which I was seeing Marine Corps one flying over DC and taking fire from someone on the ground, with an accompanying cobra gunship returning fire.  I guess this is a sign of where my subconscious is, in terms of the current climate.

Still a little short of breath. Not really pushing myself on the stripping and taking breaks as needed. Using hot water and towels to soften the paint and then removing it. Almost done the top at least.

Well, you’ll never get any good tips that way...

Hard to deal with when parents get old.

I went through this over 20 years ago. (My parents were married 13 years before they had me.)

BTW, had Folger's Noir Smoky Midnight coffee this AM. Very good, especially for a mass market brand.

Smoky Midnight makes me think of saxophones.

Learn to work the saxophone
And I play just what I feel
Drink Smoky Midnight all night long
And stay wide awake behind the wheel

So I’m thinking by now there must be a word for the following, at least in German: that feeling when you cross paths with someone in the street, and make eye contact, and you *think* you know that person but you’re not sure, because he or she is wearing a mask, of course; and you’re not sure whether to just smile or say hello or what.

The following is a reading from the Mesorah Heritage desk diary calendar (all the Jewish holidays and practices for the year)

An elderly Jew came to Rav Shteinman to consult with him. "Until now, I have been supporting my children, but now my situation has changed and I need them to assist me. It's hard for me to accept their help. What can I do about this?"

"What did you give them until now?" asked Rav Shteinman. "Money? Material things? Now you are going to give them the merit of helping you. You are giving them the opportunity to earn eternal life. That's better than anything else that you can even give them!"

I will say that helping elderly parents is difficult, but it appears it earns a great reward.

There is a phrase, at least, in English: "Who is that masked man?"/

Maybe German "WeristdiesermaskierteMann?" [courtesy of a little German google translate.
