Morning, everyone. Kosh, I just realized something--you have this site so streamlined that it loads like a dream. I wish every website would load as quickly. But that would mean there are fewer cookies and ads that have to be dealt with. Cant' have that for most sites. So thanks.

Ads slow down sites, especially ones with video ads. Also, a lot of sites use far too much scripting. Finally, this site does not have much load on it, Not many people connected.

Morning all. Late work day today so I have lots of time to get phone calls done. Especially legal and financial. Trying to keep things running and hopefully running still when things go sideways.

So WHO is going to say COVID originated in wildlife farms and passed to humans there.

But those farms are in Yunnan province, 1000 miles from Wuhan. So why didn't people in Yunnan get infected first?

Or is WHO China's puppet?

All true, but I've seen simple websites with no load that were dog slow. This is a joy to work on.

‘Major area’ of Seattle would be restricted to most cars under city’s new, greener transportation plan

In the next two years, Seattle will create incentives for public and private companies to electrify their vehicles, encourage more walking, biking and transit ridership and may propose fees on driving in certain parts of the city to decrease congestion.

By 2030, under the “Clean Transportation Electrification Blueprint,” all ride-hailing trips would be electric and emissions free; almost one-third of deliveries would be made with vehicles that don’t emit carbon; a “major area” of Seattle would be restricted to most cars; and charging stations would be reliable and readily available throughout the city.

These are Seattle’s ambitious targets for an electrified transportation system that reduces carbon emissions and fossil-fuel dependency within the decade, envisioned under a set of goals released Wednesday.

Seems like a waste of time and money. No one in their right mind wants to go to downtown Seattle anyway.

Sigh. And as a result, I'm expecting them to start having electrical brownouts on a regular basis.

Just some quick Google searching came up with the following:

Current amount of electricity generated in US: 1015 watts (2019)

Additional amount needed if all cars become electric: 3 X 1015 watts

So it looks like we'll need to quadruple the amount of electricity we make now to support all those cars. And we're going to do this with current solar and wind tech. Sure, right.

Not including any additional electrical capacity needed for other technologies.

The power grid is one issue.... a big one.

They are targeting ride shares and delivery first.

They want to force small independent operators to buy expensive new equipment to stay in business.

They won't be able to afford that, thereby forcing them out.

The Clowncil rails against Amazon, however it is Amazon that is rolling out 100,000 electric delivery vans. Only the big companies like Amazon could afford the capital expensive of converting to electric.

They go nowhere

Because virus lurks everywhere

They wear a mask even indoors, do social distancing
