Good morning, campers. Temperature right now is 4º F. at my house, with a lovely wind chill at 5º. Let's just color me unimpressed with this global warming climate change ignorance of reality.

I would be willing to deal with snow if it was closer to 32º. It's very cold here.

We went from 72 degrees over the weekend to 34 degrees right now, with heavy winds. I got to the door of my office building and realized I had forgotten my badge, so I had to go home and get it. It's 15 minutes round trip but I think it bodes ill for the rest of the week, if not the year.

There are rational uses for COVID testing; and then, there's this

But don't worry!  The government is here to help!  I'm sure Uncle Sugar stomping all over the market for test kits will make everything better.

My all time favorite was an OSHA training while on the fire department.

He starts with, "Your employer cannot require you to enter a hazardous environment."

We look at each other, ummm that is kinda of the job is......

Back when my father was a young science guy, he was in a lab explosion.  Fortunately, he was wearing his safety goggles---which had only been issued the previous day.  Had he not had them, he'd have been blinded.

My mother came home from work to find him lying on the sofa, wrapped in bandages Invisible-Man-style, with his section head waiting there to reassure her, "Don't worry---all the glass in him is sterile."

You wouldn't have signed up for the job if you didn't have fire in the belly...

You should STILL wear your safety goggles!

Now there's a textbook definition of "optimism".

Work is mercifully slow today, so I'm off to tramp around in the snow for a bit.

And of course I’m seeing people driving around in snow covered cars, from which they’ve only excavated a peephole through the front windshield. Such people should have their licenses suspended on the spot.

That's illegal here in Wisconsin.  You can get ticketed and fined if your windshield (actually, all your windows) is not totally cleared.  Doesn't mean there not quite a few idiots driving that way still.

Cars should be totally cleared of snow, hood, roof, truck and all windows. Snow can come off in chunks and damage cars and cause accidents behind you.

Using that same logic, all the snow plows that run in our county should also remove all the ice from the little country roads that in our subdivision. Unfortunately, we are at the bottom of the list to get plowed, and they drop little to no salt on the road.

That is considered road hazard, not something a driver can control.
