A bit chilly still this morning, but it's supposed to warm up - the rest of the week looks pretty good.

Preet Bharara children’s book about “Justice” features unintentionally ironic cover design.

Thanks for the hat tip!

Reading the review of the book, I had to chuckle at the mention of "tenement slums".  First, because the term always recalls the Supremes' hit, " Love Child," where they intoned that in the background; second, because "tenement" is not synonymous with "slum"; it actually is a term for any multiple dwelling with rented units; third, because, as the review points out, it is the loss of lower-end tenements, SRO hotels, and flophouses that are largely responsible for the "homeless problem."

A sad thought, but I don't doubt they put pressure on her family or someone she loves dearly.

Your metaphor about this was spot-on.

The commenter is pithy and insightful.  The purpose of this exercise is to demonstrate power and ruthlessness; it's not to convince anyone regarding truth.

I did not realize that Barack "rising sea levels" Obama owns not just one, but two oceanfront mansions.

Politics; quite the racket.

Room 101 is a real place. And not just in places like China.

We have a virtual Room 101, and it gets many people to pretend things that are just not so.

And Room 102 is right next door.  (An oldie but a goodie)

The article nicely notes the following:

Unlike former President Trump, who lost $2 billion of his own money while serving as president, the Obamas seem to have left office far better off than when they entered.

Extremely true, given that they were seriously in debt in Chicago before he ran for president.

It's Obama' hommage  to his parentage, acknowledging he truly is a son of a beach.

I will say this virtually impossible with current technologies, and anything that I'm aware of even in early development stages.

The process in the womb is a massively complex bio-chemical, hormonal, and nutritional process. We only have an inkling of all the processes that get an fertilized egg through to being developed enough for birth.

Theoretically if we understood the process it is possible. I would estimate our understanding only covers at most 10% of the process.

BTW, heard the idiots at NPR & the BBC this morning, opining that "China wouldn't want war, because it would diminish Chinese markets."

What short-sighted morons.  China has a huge overpopulation of horny young men, since the Chinese one-baby mandates resulted in a vast overpopulation of males compared to females.  This means that the Chinese Communist Party needs to thin out the number of males in the Chinese population, and war is the perfect means for doing that.  Plus, of course, those who survive can take females from the conquered nations as brides/sex slaves.  If the Party doesn't do that, it risks being overthrown by a mass of horny young men who've got nothing better to do.  In other words, China's rulers have every reason to want war.

In addition, the Chinese don't have to worry about "markets" if they rule half the world.  It's all self-dealing.

They misunderstand; CCP stands for Chinese Communist Party, not Chinese Capitalist Party. Markets? Communists don't care about markets. They care about power.

Did you know you can boost your immunity by taking a survey? Who needs a vaccine?

That is what some spam pretending to be from Pfizer says.

I wonder how people can be so dumb to respond to spam but still be able to use a computer.
