I read "The Sand Pebbles" a few years ago, but just started watching the movie (well done, but I do have some nitpicks, such as the engine room would have been quite dingy back in the day, and the rickshaw drivers were well-built adults, not dying boys as they were in real life (reference on request)

But it quite struck me that the ship, having Chinese coolies do all the work, is what we got ourselves into the last many years. Export all our real jobs to China.

I finally saw a Trump ad on Youtube! Way too many Harris ads (one would be too many), but it does appear google is letting Trump buy ads there.

I note Harris sounds desparate, especially about needing money, and Trump sounds confident (Donate if you have the money; if not, we're doing fine). So maybe it is a fake ad to get people not to donate? I wouldn't put it past google, but I do think it is real.

Bomb Smuggled Into Tehran Guesthouse Months Ago Killed Hamas Leader

Ismail Haniyeh, a top leader of Hamas, was assassinated on Wednesday by an explosive device covertly smuggled into the Tehran guesthouse where he was staying, according to seven Middle Eastern officials, including two Iranians, and an American official.

The bomb had been hidden approximately two months ago in the guesthouse, according to five of the Middle Eastern officials. The guesthouse is run and protected by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and is part of a large compound, known as Neshat, in an upscale neighborhood of northern Tehran.

Color me skeptical. First it's from the NY Slimes they lie outrageously, often, and without shame.
I doubt the IRG is so incompetent as to not have regular sweeps of this facility. They may be that arrogant they didn't think they were touchable in Tehran.
Using a mere bomb in the Slimes POV reduces the operation to the same level as any other bombing. No matter the technical, logistical and intelligence difficult of such an operation. This allows the Slimes to discount the operational expertise and skill involved.

I can see your point. I don't doubt that he was as well protected as any leader of state.

And would the room have been assigned two months in advance? Maybe, but maybe not.

As for the bomb, if that was done, the Mossad hid one in a table that was going to one of the nuclear facilities. It is possible to disguise one quite well. And I doubt the Muslim Iranians use bomb-sniffing dogs, which would have detected it.

Some kind of prisoner swap with Russia but no word on who the Russians are getting, just who they are releasing.
