About those statements that no Secret Service requests were denied to the former president:

Secret Service agents detailed to Donald Trump's rally in Butler, PA last month were specifically told by headquarters in Washington not to request any additional security for the outdoor rally where a sniper wounded the former president, and that if they made any request, it would be denied.

A whistleblower reported the new information to Missouri Senator Josh Hawley who wrote to acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe, asking him to explain the "apparent contradiction" from Rowe's Senate testimony. Rowe told the Senate Judiciary Committee last month that no resources were ever denied.

It was clearly false when Rowe stated this, but he had to attempt to save face, I guess. He just doesn't realize how bad he looks now.

Back when Al Gore was running for president against Bush, it was noteworthy how many Tennesseans came out against him. So what does this say:

This was the only way this was going to be:  NASA formally decided Saturday that Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who launched on the Starliner capsule June 5, will instead return to Earth inside a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft.

Taken from Ars Technica.

If they make it down soon, does that shoot the plans for a space-based castaway television sitcom called "Gilligan's Asteroid?"

Pretty much, although there really isn't enough space traffic to have too many visiting actors.

JCM, I've been thinking about your comment from Friday (I think it was Friday)....

Okay let me refine the question.
Let's divided True Believers [in marxism] into two camps.
The ones who can articulate a logical basis for their belief. These folks can hold a discussion on the merits and principles.
Or the ones in believe more as an article of faith in the Marxist dogma. These folks believe but can't discuss the "why" of what the believe.
It's hard to distinguish and "faith" believer from a Useful Idiot.

So you're equating the last group--those who believe but can't say why--with the useful idiots. I'm assuming you aren't equating their passion for marxism as the same, because useful idiots seem to not really care about most things; they just seem to go along to get along without any thought whatsoever. Or am I mischaracterizing your position?

All sorts of aliens could stop by.  Star Trek made that work pretty well.

That worked in Star Trek because that was the assumption--there were life forms throughout the galaxy. So far, we haven't confirmed that--yet. More likely would be to have all the failing Boeing ships swing by the ISS and wait for their SpaceX dragon capsules and what happens while they are waiting.

Equating or differentiating.... not sure which myself.

Just on observation on my part. Maybe they are the same, certainly there is a spectrum.

True believers are more fanatically, the useful idiots are just going along because it sounds good.
