Repost from last night:

So I voted in the primary election. In Massachusetts, if you are not registered in a party, you can choose the party to vote in primaries. I chose Republican, although the chances of them getting elected are slim, but the Democrats are showing their support for democracy by having all races unopposed.

The only opposed race was the Senate, and of the 3 "Republican" candidates, all have similar statements on the issues - lower taxes, stop illegal immigration, etc. But only one actually supports the Presidential candidate with those positions, so I voted for him.

In the general election, anyone opposing Chief Speaking Bull (Liz Warren, fake Indian) might as well be named Custer.

Pun intended?

Oh, yes. Yes indeed.

I'm glad folks are still wanting to come here and connect with everyone. That's good news. I'm guessing that we're all, for the most part, busier than we've ever been. I know I am; I have so much work to do I will never die.

I've been watching the differing takes on Trump going to Arlington between the two political parties, and it's honestly astonishing to see the Democrats wrap themselves in the "hallowed space" lines in order to paint Trump as the continued buffoon who doesn't know anything. It's simply another prop for them to use to make it so clear that they are the worthy party because they would never have someone as uncouth as Trump in the position of leadership. (They clearly have no idea how this plays outside their insular group.)

A liberal friend posted a link to an article from a former soldier who was assigned to Arlington as part of the detail there to help with the burials and ceremonies, and it was interesting to see how she wrote about what they did and what they survived. While I have no doubt it was brutal with no air conditioning wearing heavy dress uniforms in blazing sun, it seemed to be drawing unspoken parallels with people serving in Iraq and suffering brutal conditions there. That might not have been the author's intent, but I just came away with this sense that the author was going to find some way, any way, to make Trump look worse by first making it sound like they were fighting mosquito fire while say that everyone who worked at Arlington was as pure as snow.

The widow of one of the slain personnel came forward and said it was her mistake to ask for photographs at the event that has drawn all the ire, but all the discussions from Democrats constantly pin this error on Trump because it's oh so convenient. They never admit that this same woman asked him to come; they always make it sound like he barged his way into the event for campaign purposes.

All the bad ideas that came out of the COVID lockdowns are back on the table at the WHO's International Treat on Pandemic Prevention Preparedness, and Response with some additional nonsense to really get those control freaks in your lives

Some of the IHR measures that the WHO intends to enact may be readily bulleted:

    • authority to declare pandemics, triggering global measures
    • expanded power to declare emergencies
    • imposition of isolation and quarantine on travel and work
    • compulsory medical exams and vaccinations
    • surveillance and control of non-WHO-approved information, targeted as “disinformation,” a censorship policy already gaining domestic and political momentum
    • detailed requirements for health certificates to allow for work, travel, and access to social amenities, facilities, and public venues
    • implementing censorship algorithms on social media to impede “unacceptable” communication.

As CitizenGo reports,  these articles were pushed through in the most questionable manner. The WHO bypassed rules and procedures at the last minute to force through a set of new amendments to the International Health Regulations. It did not follow the official protocol and claimed a consensus when only a third of the member states were present — in essence, a blatant and illegitimate power grab by the radical left.

It's the second to the last bullet point that gets me: they will get to decide who is allowed to work and travel and who cannot.

Okay, folks, I have to be honest--while I appreciate that anyone who murders an American should be charged for that murder, why on earth is the Justice Department also filing charges against Hamas and company for activities related to October 7, such as conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization (oh, sure, now they admit it), conspiracy to murder US nationals, and conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction?

And how seriously can I take this when a government filled with people who frequently support Hamas over Israel then claims, as Garland did, "The charges unsealed today are just one part of our effort to target every aspect of Hamas' operations"?

I feel like there's something going on behind the scenes that caused this set of circumstances, and I'm just wondering what.

And in tech news: there has been a growing movement to force people to identify themselves online by creating real IDs (in conjunction with the states) with the theoretical end goal of making it so only those who are good little NPCs are allowed to post online. Here's the next step on this path: California legislature passes law experts say could require ID for social media

Apparently these people have never heard of copier machines that can copy small posters that can get plastered everywhere.

And then there's this: CNN brings back Brian Stelter after cancelling his show two years ago

Really? They couldn't find anyone else who could run a show for an hour? Absolutely no one else was capable?

That story ticks me off. The entire group of families is smiling in the photo.

What I remember is when those soldiers came home, Biden checking his watch during the receiving ceremony.

Listening to BBC News while driving to work this morning, it was hard not to come to the conclusion that we are living in Madhouse World.

The Israeli hostages that Hamas murdered?  That's all the fault of Netanyahu, doncha know.  Because he keeps "putting up obstacles" to a "permanent ceasefire" with Hamas.  Oh, and the killing of the hostages also represents  "a change in tactics by Hamas".  Because, you know, Hamas has never, ever been known prior to this for the "tactic" of murdering Jews.

I'm sure US Marshals are on their way to arrest Sinwar & Co., read them their Miranda warnings, and bring them back to the US to face trial.

Ridiculous kabuki theater.

And again, mere HOURS after the murdered Israeli hostages were found, Biden's reaction was to publicly complain... that Netanyahu was the obstacle to peace.

However much you despise these people, it isn't enough.

Now we have to endure the political posturing that occurs around events like this, AND right before an election.

I notice that some people on other blogs are all agog because someone has finally started popularizing spelling "Kamala" as "Que Mala" (sorry, can't seem to find how to put the proper accent on the "e" on my new machine).

Hey---I only started using that locution (here and elsewhere) a year or so ago.
