Also, 50 years ago, the Edmund Fitzgerald sunk.

I will post 2 performances.

This one, from Gordon LIghtfoot

And this one, that I particularly like

Happy birthday, Marines.

In other news, 8 Democrats voted to start the process of reopening the government. Democrats that stand before microphones hardest hit.

Where was she while Mamdani was campaigning? Oh, right: Hochul says New York's budget cannot cover Mamdani's plan for free bus rides in NYC

Happy Birthday, USMC.  (But that’s Corps, not Corp.  Not to be confused with Obama’s “Navy Corpseman”.)

it’s bizarre that the entire state would have to be on the hook for this insane plan for one city in the first place.

If I understand correctly, Trump shut down the government but dems need to keep it shut down.

I'm so sick of deals, and CRs and bullshit out of Congress.
Pass a balanced budget or two things happen. Congress doesn't get paid AND they are illegible for relection.

Socialist MA US Senate candidate defines “pharmacy desert” as being merely a half mile from the nearest pharmacy.

Well when they are 300lbs from all the fudge rounds bought with SNAP, a ten minute walk is dangerous to their health.

As I said there, get out of the big cities and there aren't enough people within a 1/2 mile to support any store.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will enact a new policy that will prohibit transgender female athletes from competing against biological women, according to multiple reports. The policy is reportedly set to cover those with differences of sex development (DSD).

The IOC’s current policy leaves it up to each individual sport’s governing body to make policies governing transgender athletes. But as the IOC changed its leadership, The Times of London reported on Monday that its policies are set to change as well.

The scale of things changes so radically between "city" and "rural/small town" that it really is quite a cultural divide. Heck, we used to drive an hour one way every week to go to the church we liked.

A few days ago, there was an article on Medium looking at the angles of various jets from 3I/Atlas and comparing them to the angles of the Great Pyramid.

If those angles are the same, then we know what 3I/Atlas is:

A Goa'uld ship

So near, I see, and yet so pharmacy.

Heard on NPR this morning; Mandami was quoting Eugene Debs in what I believe was his "victory speech."

Since this is the Marine Corps' birthday, may I suggest that anyone who has not yet done so watch the Preston Sturges film "Hail the Conquering Hero"?

The film follows Eddie Bracken, the son of a Marine killed in WWI, who tried to join but was rejected from the Marine Corps in WWII. So, he lies to his mother (by mail), claims to have joined, but takes work in a shipyard. He meets several Marines just back from Guadalcanal in a bar, and pays their bill (they're broke), and in return they decide to pretend that he was a Marine to allow him to return in honor to his hometown.

It gets complicated after that---but it is a loving, if wry, look at the Marine Corps and American politics.

Highly recommended.
