I had no idea the kids got the day off for Guy Fawkes. Or is it for Election Day? Maybe elections should always be on Guy Fawkes Day - that would keep politicians on their toes.

Oh, I really like that idea.

Morning, campers. Today is a breathing optional day; those of you who choose not to breathe can share your oxygen with a needy person (me). //

It's actually not that bad, but I switched inhalers today to a stronger one for use during the winter, and my body is in shock mode at the moment.

Guy Fawkes Day...1960, Cambridge.  Fireworks went on sale all over the place; big arguments among us kids as to whether it was a better deal to buy one of the fancy boxes, with an assortment, or to buy them separately, and, if separately, which ones to get.  The rockets were a bit of a disappointment; the Catherine wheels were great (you nailed them to a telephone pole, lit them, and watched the wheel whirl around sparking), and the Roman candles were particularly spectacular.  One of the Roman candles got knocked over accidentally---yes, accidentally---and the least-popular kid on the street was bombarded by colored fireballs.

Gilded memories.

You sound as if you think more than 1 of 100 pols would know who Guy Fawkes was, what he attempted, and when. I doubt all of those.

He was the dude who invented that cool mask, and he was like, in favor of social justice or something.

You're right, but we could certainly educate them.
