IT WORKED! Been having issues logging in here. Had to clear cookies and stuff. Hopefully things won't screw up.

60s-70s-80s celebrity trivia of the day (because why not):

Did You Know! that Charles Bronson flew 25 missions in the Pacific on a B-29, and later, as a struggling actor, shared an apartment in NYC with... Jack Klugman!  Cue The Odd Couple theme music.  And how, um, different would that show have been with Charles Bronson as Felix?!  Let's take, for example, Season 4, Episode 21, "New York's Oddest", and rewrite the plot summary appropriately:  "When Felix becomes a member of the Civilian Police Reserves, havoc reigns for criminals and innocent bystanders alike as he hunts them down and kills them, one by one".

Sen. Bernard Sanders on CNN says that Trump taking out Suleimani is just like Vladimir Putin assassinating his political rivals. "Anderson Cooper just sits there mutely as if he’s listening to the Buddha teach."

Bronson's role in the Tracy/Hepburn film "Pat and Mike," when he was still "Charles Buchinski," is a hoot.

Never saw it, I'll take a look.

Also (and again this is per Wiki), he did not learn to speak English until he was a teenager, despite being born and growing up in Pennsylvania; he spoke Lithuanian and Russian at home.  I'd always wondered why he had that almost imperceptible and not-quite-identifiable accent.

I'm wondering if, when the armorer on the set for (the enjoyably awful) Death Wish 3 approached Bronson to give him instruction about firing that M1919 machinegun, Bronson waved him off and said something like, "I've done this before."   (He was a gunner on that B-29.)

It's a small part; he's one of the shady gamblers behind Spencer Tracy's character, who come to tell him they're displeased that he's playing on the level when promoting Katharine Hepburn's athletic skills.

As if you didn't already know...

Bush bull

It is the savagely-enforced banning of scrubland clearance – a ban enthusiastically endorsed over and over again until very recently by the climate Communists at the dismal Australian Broadcasting Commisariat – that is the direct and principal cause of the extent of the damage from this summer’s bushfires.

So what's up with Iran? Are we incinerating the whole country or nah?

We are going to need a lot of new cruise missiles.

Missiles from Iranian territory into Iraq.  Not good.

If it were up to me, I would eliminate Iran’s refineries and oil export facilities. All of them.

The downside is that would increase the price of oil, but I'm willing to pay more for gas to neutralize a country that's been at war with us for 40 years.

What the left and the media (but I repeat myself) don't understand is that Trump doesn't give a flying fuck what they, or Europeans, or Pope Francis think. He is prepared to eliminate the threat that Obama & Friends nurtured assiduously with $1.7 billion cash on a pallet. I think most people agree with him.

I think that any disruption in oil prices will be fairly short lived. Though I may want to go and top off the diesel tank in the truck tonight. That stuff is not cheap.

Good idea, since your business depends on your truck. I am pretty sure we do not buy oil directly from Iran, but the knock-on effect could potentially affect our supply. It would probably be a few days before we see it, though.
