Good morning. The Squire and I are feeling much better. Go to pick up the van this morning before the wife goes to work. Think I need to grab some groceries while we're out as well. Pretty cold out there, as in "I saw a polar bear" cold.

1 degrees Canadian here and snowing.  When it warms up the snow is supposed to turn to rain.  On balance, a yucky day.

Well it's bright and sunny here today. Van temperature gauge said it'st -19 now. After $500 the van is running better finally and no idiot lights on the dash. Did some grocery shopping while we were out. Just sit back, relax, and do some slow cooking and set up for dinner tomorrow night.

I had forgotten snow was predicted. I opened the curtains and it was winter wonderland. When it snows, we're all eight years old.

LOL! I love it because we get it so rarely. The problem this morning was that I had to get the cat to the vet. ICYMI, he escaped from the house last week and when I found him he had a severe eye injury. He spent two nights in the hospital, and at the follow-up the vet said he needs to have the eye removed. Breaks my heart.

glad you’re both feeling better. On my end, all is good, I took little guy to see a magic show this morning along with his mom, which was fun, we are at his music class now, and then he will be absolutely ready for a nap.

As for me, I unreservedly love snow, but that’s also because at this point in my life I don’t have to shovel it and very rarely have to drive in it.

This was the first time I had to drive in it since the last Snowpocalypse a few years ago. That time, every school and office in town closed at the same time and it took two or three hours to get home. I was lucky - a lot of people spent the night at Kroger or Waffle House.

Don’t be ridiculous, of course I’m not making him shovel at age 4! He’s using the snowblower.

Reply to doppelganglander in 6:   I wondered what was going on with your kitty.  We had to have our cat's eye removed, viral infection.  Felt so bad for her, but she recovered 100%.  She was only allowed outside on a leash, but still managed to kill a huge rabbit while tied up.  The worst part was the cone post surgery, she had a very hard time with that and it was almost impossible to eat with it on.  Vet told us don't take it off though, it only makes things worse when you put it back on.  Hope your kitty has a speedy recovery.

Well in that case!

Picked up three pounds of ground beef. I pound, chili (dinner tonight and cooking away), Pound two is for cottage pie and the mixture is cooling in the baking dish and will be frozen for a future meal. Third pound is for stuffed peppers for tomorrow night, mixed up and resting in the fridge ready to go in the oven. Definitely feeling better today if I could pull all that off.

Tomorrow is range safety course day. Then I will be able to take my safe queens out to run through their paces. Was planning on doing that Tuesday, may still do it if my mom is up to looking after the Squire. Teachers are on strike that day apparently. :-/

Thank you. The vet said he would adjust quickly, but it's good to hear it from someone who's been there. He's in a cone right now, but I can take it off as long as I keep an eye on him. He's not scratching it, but since he has no depth perception, he might walk into a door jamb or something. He's too doped up on the good stuff to object.

Reply to doppelganglander in 15:   Has he had eye removed already or is that surgery pending?  Just a warning, if it's not already done, his head/face  will be quite misshaped from the missing eye.  That gets much better and is no longer noticeable after healing.

He has another visit next Thursday to assess the eye. He's on antibiotics and antivirals, both oral and eyedrops, in hopes of clearing up the infection. The cornea is badly damaged and ulcerated over about 80% of the eye. It's unlikely the cornea will heal properly, hence the enucleation (my new word for the week). He also has a broken canine tooth that they'll probably remove at the same time.

Thank you. I feel strange asking for prayer for a creature that doesn't have a soul, but so many people volunteered.

Reply to doppelganglander in 19:   Well, I prayed for rain also and there's no soul involved there either.  Who was it that said if dogs can't go to heaven, then I want to go where they go?  Will Rogers? Mark Twain?  Same for cats!  For the record, I believe my cat has a soul.  I'm pretty sure I've seen her praying !/

I don't know, but there is this story.... (link)

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 21:   Thanks for the link, I remember seeing that episode on Twilight Zone.  I can't imagine eternity without our pets.  I looked up my statement above, it was Will Rogers who said it.  Another one I always liked was:  I strive to be as good a person as my dog thinks I am.
