Arrrgh

Quarter of million in long term multi-licensing for an integrated CAD tools.

And the software is shit. It's a collection of standalone tools which over time have been bought by the parent company and packaged with little to no integration. I make a sub-part in one tool, build the assembly in another tool. The assembly tool has no dynamic integration with the part tool. I have to exit the assembly tool, which won't save partial constructs, launch the part tool, make the change, exit the part tool which won't save unless you exit, launch the assembly tool which reloads the parts.

The damn thing should be integrated. Have both assembly and part tool ideally as one, but at least integrated and dynamic. So a change to a apart can be made with both open.

What a friggin' kludge.

Most annoying feature? Error messages with no information. "Error 1045! Widget X can't be done!" That error number and description are NOT FRIGGEN DOCUMENTED! How in all that is holy do you write an error code... AND NOT DOCUMENT THE DAMN THING!

Thanks for letting me vent.

This one is just a ripper....

I create an object... to create the object... I need the object.... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

Support documentation....

I enter a specific search phrase for a specific operation.

No results....

So I alter the search parameters and phrasing....

I find what I want.... in a document title by the exact search phrase I first used.

I’ll take “redacted portions of Genesis chapter 1” for $500, Alex...

So a little while ago, I am approaching the front door of the store to walk in. OK, fine, it’s the liquor store. Anyway. Guy coming out, stops to hold the door open. I come to a stop, somewhat annoyed he says to me “so, you don’t want it?!“. Apparently some people have not yet gotten the memo about social distancing.

Well, that wouldn’t exactly represent social distancing either, now would it. I mean, the guy was trying to be polite, initially, he just wasn’t thinking things through very carefully.

I am going to ask if anyone wants to take some of the daily threads.

Not that hard to do - you need to go to the forums page, the forum you want the thread in, click on "Show scheduled threads" so you know what days are already set up, and then create thread,  set date and the time, and then add a first post as you would a regular post, with picture using the same editor as for all posts.

(You see, the first post on a thread is displayed at the top and larger than the others, but is created the same)

Eventually, I'd like others to have access to the hosting account to fix any problems if I'm not available, but that takes more technical knowledge.

But I don't want this to disappear the way C2 did, so we need someone else who can at least pay for the hosting. That is also done from the hosting control panel. Currently paid for 2 years as of last January, so no rush unless something happens to me.

And so after talking about it for weeks, I finally cleaned my 1911 today, which was overdue.

So I was torturing myself by listening to NPR on the way back from the grocery store. They were interviewing the screamingly gay author of a new children’s book about a “ Non-gender binary guinea pig”. They talked about how important it was to get children to “think about pronouns“. This is what they consider to be crucial stuff during a global fucking pandemic. I swear to you I am not making this up.

I cherish the hope that gender fads, intersectional nonsense, SJW whining,  diversicrats, and all manner of chicanery will become marginalized now that people have had a taste of reality.
