Goos morning!  Litttle OR says that he had a dream last night that his mommy and he and I were having a big party, “all over the country”, and that all the other countries came to it, “including Egypt”. He said the party was so big that we were dancing in everybody’s houses, and in the streets, “and even in the pyramids”.

There was a "report" on New York's NPR station today about how badly restaurants are faring during the shutdown---with, of course, special attention on "small, minority, and immigrant-owned restaurants" being "hardest hit."  Why concentrate on "minority and immigrant-owned" restaurants?  A small, marginal restaurant is a small marginal restaurant, regardless of who owns it or whom it caters to.

This is a small example of Orwell's dictum that "All propaganda is lies, even when one is telling the truth."

Well, rumor has it that they own a lot of those “full service“ massage parlors, so I guess that makes sense.

I saw something yesterday wherein it was intimated that while New York will still hold its Democratic primary some time in June or July (I forget which), they will not have the presidential contest as part of the primary.

Kind of weird, if true; after all, if people are out there voting for their party candidates in a primary election anyway, why would one delete the presidential race---save as a way either to protect Biden from a Bernie surge after Sanders has "suspended" his candidacy (a Sanders win would give him more leverage at the convention), or a way to deny Biden additional strength as a setup for his replacement at the convention?

I assume these doctors were saying Quarantine should be lifted sooner and faster? We keep seeing this, videos being taken down that are not in alignment with what the institutional left is pushing in terms of pandemic response. It is really goddamn Orwellian.

I made some assumptions early on about the spread of the virus. Based on the best numbers I could find, using simple population models from some of my class in biology. I posted some of that here. My back of the napkin simple math did a better job than the models being used to justify the shutdown.

Sweden has no shutdown, and advise taking precautions as individuals saw fit. Sweden has an confirmed case to population rate of 0.2%. We with a shutdown have a case to population rate of 0.3%.

Covid Deniers... to coin a term... are being shutdown... those aren't just whackos you got epidemiologist at Standford, these ER docs in CA and others who have data and science contrary to the narrative and their work is going into the memory how.

Roll in the source of the virus, the push for people to use social distancing apps, forty some agencies accepting free surveilance drones from China....

And yeah it can take a person thinking in strange directions.

Yesterday, a video came across the Conservative TreeHouse website that Sundance posted of a nurse practitioner sharing the stories she's hearing from a friend working in NYC. This must be taken with a huge grain of salt, and I have heard of a few stories about patients being very poorly treated in NYC; but this is downright evil. Patients not getting appropriate treatment, patients being forced on to ventilators despite the huge risks of using them.

If this video is correct, the amount of Orwellian talk is reaching pandemic proportions. People are being killed. Whether that is malfeasance on the part of the doctors at these hospitals or whether it is to support a political party's stance against the president of the United States cannot be known, but it is disturbing.

I hope no one needs the following information, but I ran across this yesterday and knew I should share it. A pulmonology practice has treated over 1000 patients with COVID and only 2 have died.  Their treatment plan is available here and they are offering it for free. This is useful information if, God forbid, you or someone you know develops symptoms with COVID.

I read something yesterday about elderly Covid patients in NYC being denied space on either the hospital ship, or in the facility put together at Javits, and instead being sent back to assisted-living or nursing-home facilities where they could get less care and where there was also an increased risk of their spreading contagion to other residents of these facilities, also in the elderly at-risk demographic.

Yup, NY was requiring nursing home to take elderly covid patients.

That requires a serious investigation. It's criminal IMAO. Instead of isolating the covid patients, drop them in the among the most vunlerabley population in facilities least equiped for them?

On no level does that make sense.

IMAO, based on how they are classing anyone who dies WITH covid as covid death as opposed to those who die OF covid. It was callus attempt to inflaet the numbers.

In the midst of all this insanity, there is one tiny ray of light in Illinois

Grrr. Hit return too quickly. Other folks can add their names to this lawsuit, of course.

As some Republicans seeking to reopen the economy launch a full-court press against stay-at-home restrictions, one GOP lawmaker in Illinois scored an unusual legal victory on Monday — for himself.

State Rep. Darren Bailey apparently became the only person in Illinois, besides essential workers, who is now exempt from Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s stay-at-home order after a judge in southern Illinois granted a temporary restraining order blocking the state from enforcing Pritzker’s order against him.

Now, Bailey is evidently free to roam wherever he pleases, but he said Monday that was not the main reason he sued the governor.

“The governor was just clearly overreaching his authority and his powers,” Bailey, a farmer who represents a rural district in southern Illinois, told The Washington Post.

Continuing:

Clay County Circuit Judge Michael McHaney said in his Monday rulingthat there was a “reasonable likelihood” that Bailey would succeed in making that argument when the court considers its merits. He said Bailey “has shown he has a clearly ascertainable right in need of immediate protection, namely his liberty interest to be free from Pritzker’s executive order ...” He agreed that Bailey has shown that he will be “irreparably harmed” without swift court intervention, although the judge did not explain his rationale.

Although McHaney’s ruling doesn’t extend to anyone except Bailey, as he is the sole plaintiff, it appears to provide a framework for other similar lawsuits around the state, which Bailey would welcome. Bailey said that he hopes his case will ultimately result in the order being invalidated for the entire state — a possibility that Pritzker appeared concerned about during his Monday news conference.

We are a "trust" society.

We trust a majority of people, in all occupations will do the right thing.

This especially true for those in government. We granted to government limit powers, and those elected, appointed or hired to conduct themselves in a trustworthy manner.

When that trust breaks down, the very structure of our society breaks down. Instead of e pluribus unum it is every man for himself.

It's good to see someone publishing the day-to-day numbers of new cases, as everyone has dropped this and gone to cumulative total numbers, which can be used to bash people over the heads.

Some states could open now, based on those charts. Some definitely should not.

And things are getting stupider up here in Ontario. Received a letter from work stating that I am an essential worker and allowed to travel to and from work regularly. (papers please....)

Today, when I went in for my shift I got interrogated to the nth degree about travel history, symptoms, etc. before being allowed in. PPE is being issued and some is being declared mandatory. Example, we were given plastic face shields and I haven't even bothered to put it on and they are saying we HAVE to wear them. As useful as a porcupine in a condom factory IMAO.

Province hasn't said when they will start easing the lock down, just that they have a plan which they released yesterday. School is definitely out until May 31.

I thought in the beginning this was going to be bad on the virus end. Now? I think it's gotten worse on the freedom side and a lot of people are starting to notice and get ugly.

A humorous bit on the year 2025.

A kindergarten teacher is taking roll at the beginning of class.

Teacher: Welcome to your first day of school.  I'll call your name and say "here" or " present" when I call your name.

Covid Lee. Good to see you, hon.

Pandemica.  Hi there.

Kovid Lynn.  Oh, spelled with a 'k'.  How clever of your parents.

Maskalotta.  I see you there, dear.

I can't find the particular treatment on that page, but I have read about a couple of treatments from Israel and the US (the US company has a site in Israel but they don't say so on their US page) that have a high to 100% cure rate.
