Thirst! I'm unwrapping the laptop JCM so graciously gave me, I'll see if I can get this thing configured properly. Thanks so much JCM, I'm like a kid in a candy store right now.

This laptop is really nice, there is a little cosmetic damage to the ports but they should all work. The charger is trick, the way it’s magnetized to stick.

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 5: We have a parakeet in the upstairs bathroom, with a radio tuned to the classical station. The bird chips along with a lot of music, but especially likes Bernstein - she really understands the music and chirps exactly when pauses are supposed to end. (Likes the Symphonic Dances from both On the Town and West Side Story) When we thought the bird was a male, I named it Leonard Birdstein, but then she laid eggs, so she's Leonora Birstdein

aaarggg this trackpad is different for me, you need to press hard to just click on a selection. It’ll take some getting used to.

BTW, an exterminator one place I worked told me he once found someone put a computer mouse in one of his mousetraps.

In #1 turn said: Thanks so much JCM, I'm like a kid in a candy store right now Testing... this is the first post on the new (real) keyboard and wow is this soooo much better than blogging here on the iPhone. This feels like a trustworthy and solid computer, the last POS desktop wasn't worth the powder to blow it to hell. I should have taken it back years ago the day after I bought that thing (the TPM on the motherboard was flaky as can be). This is actually the first laptop I've ever had, it'll be fun I can tell already. Now the hard part of learning a new computer starts. So far setup has been pretty painless (this is also the first Apple computer I've owned as well, lots to learn ...)

Reply to turn in 13: Apples aren't too hard to learn. They have their differences from Windows, though. However, I have owned two. An Apple ][+ - great system and easy to maintain (great for the time, anyway) MacBook Pro, first of those with LED backlighting. Wasn't an Apple; was a Lemon. Screen crapped out within 3 months. Screen, system board, 2 or 3 optical drives, keyboard, and then a thermal;sensor on the system board failed a few months after AppleDoesn'tCare ran out. I figure for the time it took me to bring it to the Apple stores for all those repairs, Apple owes me $1000 plus free AppleCare. Until then, I will NOT buy a crapple product.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 23: Reminds me of an old remark about why ships are considered female: It takes a lot to keep them in paint and powder.
