The spy agencies have long been the Swamp. Goes way back. John Foster Dulles and others were willing to sell out the US and Israel for $ in the Saudi oil companies. Don't have time to check the book now, but there were State Dept and spies helping trade with Nazi Germany, and helping Nazis escape. And they're back.

(BTW, the Tablet magazine says "wokeness" is from the same WASPs and similarly minded people, using that to take over what they think should be theirs.
