In “Simon & Simon“ terms, are you more of a Rick, or an A.J.?

Discuss.

I've never even heard of it.

For some reason, this reminded me of some quote from a high school English grammar textbook.

"I'd as lief Simonize my grandmother as personalize my writing"

it came on right before “magnum, PI“. So, there. Now you have a landmark.

I vaguely remember the name, but have not watched much TV in years.

"Must watch TV" is an oxymoron.

OK, maybe if you live in this 1980 movie where an entire town becomes reality TV\\

Never saw "Magnum, PI" either.

I've gone through many "no television" cycles.

I haven't seen Magnum PI, either.

Years ago, I started to find TV too predictable and too much a waste of my time.

Some shows, OK, I have on DVD but I have no idea when I'll watch them

Babylon 5 (which I did see when it was broadcast)

Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis

Farscape (with Muppets!)

Babylon 5 is where my nic comes from. It was a completely unpredictable show - a character comic in season 1 turns out to be a classically tragic character, and a warlike one turns mystic later in the show.

In the show, many races in the galaxy advanced to go "beyond the rim" to some higher state. I think that is like Stargate's "ascended".

Two races stayed behind to help younger races advance. The were the Vorlons and the Shadows. The Vorlons believe in advancement by strict order (their orders). The Shadows believe in advancement in war and chaos.

We meet two Vorlons, both called Kosh. ("We are all Kosh")

So Kosh's Shadow is something like "Republican Democrat"

I've always thought it's a tad overrated, to be frank.  I don't "get" the cultish following.

I liked Firefly, but I don't follow any show like a cult member.

It was different, and I liked that.

And this is why I stopped watching a lot of TV. If I could predict what would happen next, it was not worth my time.

Babylon 5, Firefly, were different.

for one thing, I like at least a teeny, tiny bit of science in my science fiction. “Firefly“ was terrible in that regard.
