Israeli Embassy Rips ‘Vile’ Spanish Parade Show for ‘Banalizing’ Holocaust

The Israeli Embassy in Spain condemned on Tuesday a display at a recent parade in the town of Campo de Criptana for “banalizing the Holocaust.”

For the performance, some members of the Asociacion Cultural El Chaparral de Las Mesas’ carnival troupe portrayed marching Nazi soldiers, while others dressed up as Jewish concentration camp inmates, who danced to contemporary disco music while waving Israeli flags.

While the troupe said the show — titled “Holocausto” — was meant to honor the victims of the Nazis, it largely aroused shock and disapproval.

“We condemn the vile and repugnant representation banalizing the Holocaust at the Carnival of Campo de Criptana, making fun of the six million Jews killed by the Nazis,” the Israeli Embassy in Madrid tweeted. “European countries must actively combat antisemitism!”

That certainly helps in terms of your risk of exposure; nevertheless, I think everyone would do well to plan for the worst and hope for the best. Plan on a scenario in which you have to stay inside your house for three weeks, better still, four.

We have enough canned goods and frozen stuff to last. And the town's water supply is behind our house - our house gets the water before it gets to the water main.

I'd just run out of money, as I can't work from home.

Pete Buttigieg is very cleverly using his sexual preference as a Magic Shield of Invulnerability™ to ensure that he will never be asked direct questions about his connections to, and support for, the excesses of the modern-day gay-rights movement. He is using sexual preference exactly as Barack Obama used his skin tone---as a way to avoid, and to forestall, awkward questions.

Just as any disagreement with Obama was pre-emptively declared "racist," which meant that Obama did not even have to account for the twenty years he spent sopping up racist tirades in the Reverend Wright's "church," let alone directly address any actual race issues save by obliquely accusing any would-be questioner of "racism," Buttigieg and his supporters will decry any criticism of his policies or advocated positions as "homophobic," and dismiss the critic or questioner out of hand.

I do not agree that Buttigieg has to "answer for" the gay rights movement. I don't think he's enough of a threat in this race for anybody to bother going after him, and when they do, there are plenty of things to confront him with that have nothing to do with him being gay. To respond to criticism of, say, his poor performance as mayor, with "you're just saying that because I'm gay" is a total non-sequitur. The criticisms of Obama that were considered racist had to do with things like hiding his academic record and voting present as a state senator. Those criticisms could be cast as impugning his intelligence and work ethic, common racist tropes, and it didn't matter that in this case he really was less than brilliant and somewhat lazy. He presents himself as very clean-cut and middle-class, the kind of person well-meaning folks imagine when they think of gay marriage. I don't believe he can use his gayness as a Cloak of Invisibility to deflect criticism because he tries so hard to seem normal.
