I want to see a hookup pub with a picture on its sign of a spouting whale, the spout pushing aloft an egg.

The pub shall be called "The Sperm and Egg."

A hookup joint, eh?

If I had a schooner, I'd call it the "or Later"

Yes, the Schooner or Later

There was a local gay bar known as "The Texas Drilling Company."  I used to go there in my early days in town with one of my gay friends (though I was not living the life).  It later became a swanky steak house.  For those of us who knew it's ancestry seeing all the local nouveau riche eating there was something of a joke.

How about "The Edmund Fitzgerald"

No matter what the weather, you'll be guaranteed to go down before the night is over.

I imagine somewhere in the United Kingdom, there’s an interracial hook up gay bar called “The Black Cock”.

So some leftist Milwaukee neighborhood vowed not to call the police and ended up with crime and a 300 person homeless camp.

Someone said he was threatened to give up his car keys, but got nervous and gave his house keys, so the robber stole a different car.

Too bad. I can just imagine the insurance claim. "We'll process your claim. Just send the police report"

"I didn't report it to the police"

"Then we can't process the claim. Have a nice day"

I can't find the link right now but I saw it too. Parents are afraid to take their children to the park. IMO it's only a matter of time before someone is assaulted or worse.

Fox news - article link

A progressive Minneapolis neighborhood that pledged not to call the police in the wake of the death of George Floyd is now dealing with a 300-strong homeless encampment in a local park, according to reports.

Keeping the promise not to call the police has proven more difficult than imagined, as some residents have avoided the park altogether after being catcalled and are fearing for their children’s safety. Others said they had trouble sleeping at night, fearing campers would force their way into their homes.

“I’m not being judgmental,” Carrie Nightshade, 44, told the Times, explaining she no longer allows her children, 12 and 9, to play in the park by themselves. “It’s not personal. It’s just not safe.

Another resident, Mitchell Erickson, said he regretted calling 911 when two black teenagers cornered him a block away from his home, held a gun to his chest and demanded his car keys. Erickson said he mistakenly handed over his house keys, and the frustrated teens left him only to steal another car a few blocks away.

“Been thinking more about it,” Erickson said in a text message to a reporter. “I regret calling the police. It was my instinct but I wish it hadn’t been. I put those boys in danger of death by calling the cops.”

White liberals are so dumb, they have completely lost the instinct for self-preservation. I feel sorry for the kids. How does it feel to know your parents care more about the feelings of the violent mentally ill than your safety?

I'm going to post this in tomorrow's daytime thread, too

The link between George Orwell, George Floyd and the Jews – opinion (Jpost)

Summary lines: Black Lives Matter and its sycophants must not be mistaken for people who care about the likes of George Floyd. They should be seen and understood in the context of George Orwell.

What has become clear during the past few weeks is that the motive of the radicals leading the campaign is not to improve America by eradicating its social flaws. It is, rather, to demonize the country’s birth as a nation and delegitimize its entire existence, just like its enemies abroad, such as Iran, but from within.

The Black Lives Matter and Antifa thugs barely disguise this aim. They don’t need to do so. Nor are they embarrassed by their often inherently contradictory positions. They call the shots, after all, and are never called to task for their actions.

Meanwhile, their numerous clueless fellow travelers in the media, academia, Hollywood, Silicon Valley and even Wall Street are too busy apologizing for being “privileged” to engage in any serious examination or debate. Yes, even seemingly intelligent and educated people are more preoccupied these days with firing employees who might harbor impure thoughts, banning books and changing the brand names of syrup and cereal to question the dubious practices of the activists to whom they are kowtowing.

YES, AS professors and newspaper editors lost their livelihoods for defending free speech, their peers were penning letters of “mea culpa” for crimes against blacks that they have not committed.

Orwell explains this phenomenon from the grave.

“In a way, the world-view of the Party imposed itself most successfully on people incapable of understanding it,” his protagonist muses. “They could be made to accept the most flagrant violations of reality, because they never fully grasped the enormity of what was demanded of them, and were not sufficiently interested in public events to notice what was happening. By lack of understanding they remained sane. They simply swallowed everything, and what they swallowed did them no harm, because it left no residue behind, just as a grain of corn will pass undigested through the body of a bird.”

Good grief.

I used to bridle when people would post "liberalism is a mental disorder"; I no longer do.  These people need to be re-taught that fire burns and that water is wet.  Ideology has rendered them functionally idiotic, in the classic sense of the term.

I have wondered if COVID has some kind of effect on the brain. At least in severe cases, it does (blood clots causing strokes)

But maybe it also makes people stupid in milder cases? Hard to explain the outpouring of idiocy of the past few weeks otherwise.

And the problem for me is, where I live, I'm surrounded by these fucking fools.  I can arm myself all I like, but if the proggie idiots here were to do something similar, what could I really do?  If I were to kill in self-defense, the local  government would salivate at the prospect of coming down like a ton of bricks on a "Great White Defendant" (to use Tom Wolfe's term).

I have wondered exactly the same thing.  Seriously.  The thought crosses my mind.

I'm also reminded of "The Screwfly Solution".

I didn't take COVID that seriously until where I work changed a lot of their rules and moved most of the work home.

Remember, these people have access to highly classified information. That kind of place does not send work home much, never mind to the extent they have done so. (Classified work stays on site. Sensitive unclassified can be done at home with lab equipment)
