I saw a quote referenced at Insty yesterday that was interesting (I don't recall from whom).  In brief, it noted that the rioters who are arrested after destroying property have never, themselves, created anything of value in their lives; so it's literally incomprehensible to them how outraged people can be to see others trying to destroy their livelihoods, their life's work.

I saw references to the same thing happening in NYC, "invading white spaces", with brunch, apparently, being a "white space",  for some reason (I could've sworn we stole brunch from ancient Africans, but maybe that's just my recollection).

Whether or not it caught on then, I think this will catch on now... the crazies are becoming more violent, not less.   I am trying to carefully think through what my strategy would be if I'm targeted for this or something like it, taking into account they key variables of 1) is Little OR with me at the time or not, and 2) is this before or after I've got my CCW permit and I'm carrying.

I've also given it some thought. I don't want to carry - I have a recurring tremor in my hands that gets much worse when I'm frightened or upset. If I'm confronted by one or two people, I think I could talk my way out of it by invoking the Grandma clause*. If they start swinging,  I duck under the table. In a large crowd. I would just cross my arms and sit there. I would no more raise a fist in a black power salute than I would a Nazi salute. If I get beat up, well, so be it. Obviously with Little OR, you have to protect him first and avoid confrontation. 

*I am old enough to be your mother/grandmother. Does she know you're out here? I'm sure she raised you better than this. She would be ashamed to see you acting like this.

Yes, if he's with me, I do pretty much anything to de-escalate, including doing their fascist salute, and then get the hell out of there.

Now, if it's just me, or me with friends... well, different scenario.  

Even then, I know most self-defense instructors would advise, "de-escalate, and leave".  But this shit has gone well beyond far enough, and I'm not going to bend the knee to these fucking thugs.  They need to start getting pushback, HARD, or they'll never stop.
