I also recalled seeing some speculation, based on photos, that Joe had been using a sort of prosthetic ear during his interviews, possibly fitted with a tiny audio device to feed him responses.  

Time was, I would have dismissed such speculation as ridiculous.  Now, I don't put it past them.

I had a mildly favorable opinion of Jill before this because she promotes community college, IMO a critical part of our higher education system. I had no idea what a power-hungry person she really is.

Actually, "ganzel"---also rendered "gunsel"---is Yiddish (and Polish) for "goose."  When Sam Spade refers to Wilmer as "the gunsel," he is not talking about his being a gunman, but his being a "goose"---i.e., a homosexual boy-toy for his boss Gutman.  

Likewise, when James Dean is constantly fighting people in "Rebel Without a Cause" because they "called him chicken," it was not because Dean was supposedly cowardly; they were saying that he was a subservient/passive homosexual partner.

Oh, and I tried to get to the Frontier thread while not logged in. It gives 404, file not found, just like it is supposed to.

When I was working on the blog, I found someone who said that you should not use 403, forbidden, as it tells hackers there is something there for them to try to break in to. 404 makes them think there is nothing.
