When I was in grad school, there was a diner near campus that had on the menu "Working Man's Breakfast."  It was coffee and a cigarette.

And today, the diner could sell the "Working Man" the cigarette but he wouldn't be allowed to smoke it inside the diner.  Not saying that's a bad thing, just an observation.

Reply to JCM in 3: I don't think you've woken up yet.  You're still asleep and it's just a bad dream.  Things will drastically improve once you're finally able to wake up and have some coffee.

They're now circulating ads showing a mother and her daughter being arrested as they run to the border to get the daughter an abortion.  Because Handmaid Amerikkka has come to pass.

Legalizing abortion didn't end back-alley abortions; it just put the back alley on Main Street and the federal payroll.

Basically what I have been saying for a while now.

So, the good news is, there’s nothing wrong with my knee. The bad news is, I may have torn my quadricep muscle. To be confirmed via MRI on Thursday. If so, I’m scheduled for surgery Friday. Might as well get the ball rolling. Apparently it’s a pretty straightforward surgery with a pretty straight line recovery time including physical therapy.

May it not be that bad and you have a quick recovery.

That sounds bad, but probably not as bad as a knee injury. I hope you can avoid surgery, but in any case I wish you a swift recovery.

Better than what it could have been, but still that's got be a bummer. I suppose that means the little guy is going to have to take care of you

Thanks.  My impression is, even if I do have to get the surgery to replace the torn quadricep, it's pretty straightforward stuff, takes an hour, and then you go home right after.  I'd have a leg brace on for about four weeks, that I can take off for showering, just to keep the leg straight; I can put weight on it, just not straighten out the leg (which is kind of what I'm doing now, anyway).

As far as Little OR, he's with his mom for Extended Dance Mix Overtime... she offered and I gratefully accepted, and she said she explained things to him and he's fine. They'll come by to visit later today.

Per my mom, who 1) is an RN (retired) and 2) has all too much dismal experience these past several years with knee issues, "you are definitely better off fixing muscle rather than knee".

And now both my doc's office and I are scrambling to actually get the MRI set up for Thursday, so I can do the surgery Friday as scheduled... if not, I have an MRI set for Tuesday, and would have to reschedule the surgery.

Honest question here, as I've killed the thread: As I was driving in to work today at noon, the news shared what sounded like Biden talking at a campaign event--but I thought they put a lid on any campaign events for the rest of the week. Is the media completely faking these tidbit pieces on the radio? I can't find any info on it...

Apparently "Biden holds socially-distanced rally in Ga. - and hardly anyone shows" (on Fox News)

I tried opening the article, but it links to a different story, so I won't give a link here.

He was in Georgia today. He did a very tiny event (about two dozen people) at Warm Springs and a short drive-in rally in Atlanta. The Atlanta location was not revealed until shortly before the event and the camera didn't provide a wide angle, but based on the honking sounds, I'd be amazed if there were 100 cars there.

The media keeps insisting Georgia is too close to call. The chances of Biden winning, or of either Senate seat going to a Democrat, are nil.
