Trump didn’t sell out his supporters. In fact, his presidency saw something extraordinary, even if it was all but invisible from the country’s globalized cities: the first egalitarian boom since well back into the twentieth century. In 2019, the last non-Covid year, he presided over an average 3.7 percent unemployment rate and 4.7 percent wage growth among the lowest quartile of earners. All income brackets increased their take. That had happened in the last three Obama years, too. The difference is that in the Obama part of the boom, the income of the top decile rose by 20 percent, with tiny gains for other groups. In the Trump economy, the distribution was different. Net worth of the top 10 percent rose only marginally, while that of all other groups vaulted ahead. In 2019, the share of overall earnings going to the bottom 90 percent of earners rose for the first time in a decade.“

The source for this quote? Sit down before you read this: the “new republic”.

And to re-post one of my comments from that page:

It really is quite incredible. In terms of actual *results*, Trump achieved major goals that the left always claimed they wanted. Egalitarian economic expansion, sharply rising wages for blacks and Latinos, US troop drawdowns around the world and no new wars. And yet they hate him with an absolute burning passion.

Of course, a key word in that preceding paragraph is “claimed“.

Aside from your quite accurate observation about "claimed," it should be noted that the Left probably "claimed" it wanted these things because they believed them to be impossible, so they could safely make the claims in the assurance that they would not be attained, but would merely serve as the carrot dangled on a stick before the donkey to make it move where they wanted it to go.

Too, if they proved to be attainable goals, the Left wanted the credit for attaining them, rather than see them attained by someone who was not merely an opponent/adversary, but one whom they'd consistently and viciously demonized from the outset.

Like all bureaucratically-minded folk, Democrats understand that you maintain power by promising to address problems, not by solving them.  If you solve them, then you're out of a job.

Head of Iranian nuclear program gets 72 virgins

Head of Iran's nuclear program Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, 59, was assassinated in Damavand, east of Tehran, local Iranian news reported on Friday.

Iran later confirmed the reports. "The nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was assassinated today by terrorists," the Iranian Defense Ministry wrote in a statement, while not blaming any specific entity for the incident.

However, Iran's foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif later stated on Twitter that "serious indication" pointed to Israeli involvement and urged the international community to condemn the attack.

I learned that from Mitch Snyder in the 80s. There were never 3 million homeless as he claimed. He did help build a homeless shelter, but he spent far more time on publicity stunts than serving the poor. And he did nothing to put homeless people in permanent housing.

I would have preferred that while the mullahs and top Iranian nuclear scientists were touring an Iranian nuclear facility, there was an accident releasing nuclear material that killed them all and the facility had to be sealed.

Kind of like Haman being hung on the gallows he had built for Mordechai.

"Unfortunately, the medical team did not succeed in reviving him, and a few minutes ago, this manager and scientist achieved the high status of martyrdom after years of effort and struggle," a statement by Iran's armed forces carried by state media said."

Good that they could help him out with that!

Morning, campers. Had to go into work to kick a machine back into action, but I am now safely ensconced at home, thinking about buying Christmas gifts and otherwise being a bum.

May he be the first of several to succumb to the consequences of their actions.

I had to venture out on Black Friday to do some non-holiday related shopping.  It was eerily quiet.
