Kosh, I left one final message in the Frontier, but it's just something that considers your last comment.

Otherwise, good morning, campers, and welcome to Christmas Week. I hope everyone is able to take lots of time off. I can't because of certain projects at work, but I hope to have those completed before Wednesday.

I get to supervise number 2 son in massive amounts of make-up work he needs to finish so he doesn't flunk this term and thereby destroy his chance of going to college.

It's no comfort, I suppose, but thousands of kids are in the same boat. Not like anyone who caused this cares, as long as Muffy and Skip get into their safety school, Brown.

One son has been consistently behind and failing. During shutdown we switched to Graduation Alliance. It designed for kids who are having trouble. It's self paced but does have deadlines. Our son is really doing it on his own and passing.

May I ask what makes their system work?

A trillion here, a trillion there pretty soon we're talking real money!

WASHINGTON (AP) — Top Capitol Hill negotiators sealed a deal on a $900 billion COVID-19 economic relief package, finally delivering long-overdue help to businesses and individuals and providing money to deliver vaccines to a nation eager for them.

The "terms" are short, each class is 4 weeks, with a handful of assignments each week, two classes at a time.

During those weeks it's entirely self pace for the kids. For this son he has a lot of trouble getting going in the morning. He does it at sometimes pretty late at night. The shorter "terms" and weekly goals are achievable goals, instead of a semester where it takes have the school year for results.

For this kid he says the video classes are much more understandable, and he can constantly refer back to the presentations and materials.

In class in school he felt overwhelmed by the flow of information, never knew what was important and what was trivia. With two classes and the pace it's much more focused.

His problem is classes that are self-paced but the software is crap.  He has some time, but in one case it was 9 weeks into the term before they got the software working correctly.

So far with this online school no software issues.

The stuff our local school district uses is garbage. The district IT people must have failed IT classes, they can't even do a mailto link correctly on the staff pages. The online course don't get me started. Not only is software crap, the content is worse. I found a I explained one of dozens of math errors to the instructor his response, "this program was vetted by experts" to which I replied, "that is the appeal to authority fallacy, you are part of the problem not the solution".

Jolly Old Ron Karenga
---A Kwanzaa Carol, to the tune of "Jolly Old St. Nicholas"

Jolly old Ron Karenga,
Marxist to the core,
Torturer and murderer,
Academic whore,
Hit upon a plan to make
His ideas hold sway;
And invented the brand new
Kwanzaa holiday

Every night a candle's lit
And in Swahili
Those observing celebrate
Marxist hegemony
To isolate their hearts from
The land where they live
To dwell on past grievances
And to not forgive

One can only hope blacks are
Mostly too abashed
To heed Ron Karenga and
His concocted trash
And rather than follow him
Into endless night
They'll reject Ron Karenga
And his Kwanzaa rites

The district "IT" people have never had IT classes.  From what I can tell, they are all redundant elementary and middle school teachers who have been assigned to manage online courses because they can't be fired and no one knows what to do with them.  In a previous outing with them, the email address for the teacher looped back to the home page of the virtual school.  And they didn't even have a working phone at the facility.

The term "LatinX" is woke stupidity created an propagated by non-Latinos.

My favorite comment from that thread:  "Gretchen, stop trying to make "fetch" happen."

That would explain it.

Can't make it in a classroom, can't "promote" them to admin, can't fire them 'cause union! Move them into IT!

If nothing else, the lockdown has exposed the stupidity and mismanagement of public schools to millions more parents. Unfortunately, most of them will not take the opportunity to get involved and demand better. Too many have no other options.

If we are going to tax for schools, and most if not all State's Constitutions require schooling, they it should be a pure voucher system.

Parents choose the school to send their kids too, and the money allocated goes to the school.

This online school we're working with right now is $800 per student. For a lot of folks that's is a lot, better than the tuition at some private schools.

Afternoon. We are going back into full lockdown for 4 weeks starting on the 26th. Work has been stupid busy with all the panic buying going on and reduce store capacity. We have also been short staffed and over worked as well. Finally got a chance to even think a bit today after dealing with all the stupid idiots. Mind you most customers have been good or patient.

On the plus side I am starting to identify all the potential stasi agents in the public sphere. One of these days I will have the energy and time to hit the range. Have had to give it a miss for the past week and a half due to lack of time or weather. Not to mention being to tired to drive there and back after work.

And from a European study there was no difference in infection rates between locked down areas and areas that remained opened. The US Marines did a small experiment and units that locked down had higher infection rates than units not locked down.

Christmas for us is going to be just the wife the squire and I. My mom was released from the hospital to clear space ( in for two compression fractures) and isn't up to coming over to our place for festivities. Wife and I aren't up to going to her place. Will let her know that we will definitely ship her Christmas dinner at least.

The mental and emotional exhaustion is getting to all of us.

More seriously: I hope the both the three of you and your mom can make the best of a somewhat lousy Christmas situation. Try to rest and not get the stress get to you.

Hint- they're Facebook "moderators". Big Tech and China are working together. Soon, we'll all have social scores. "Registered Republican? Your score is negative."
