Wonder what's going to go wrong today in DC... Something will and it will be blamed on the usual scape goats.

Been home for the past week and a half sheparding the Squire in on school learning. He's getting better but with our internet issues he has to use my computer. Been messing around with reclaimed wood and been practicing making grips for my 1911. Doing it with hand tools and using a Dremel for fiddly bits like cutting notches and grooves. Looking pretty good so far.

Morning, campers. Busier day today, so not sure how much I'll be on.

Thanks for the picture above, JCM. I've been trying to get confirmation of exactly who ordered the National Guard into the capital, and while I haven't had enough time to do a deep dive across all the media outlets, I'm not exactly getting the same consistent message--which leaves me extremely confused as to who ordered what. Most articles mention the Secret Service managing this, but I honestly don't recall ever hearing that Secret Service manages all security in the DC area like this. It leaves me greatly confused.

I have seen QAnon folks say Trump ordered them in and it's all his 3D chess moves, which is ridiculous. Q himself has not posted (that I've seen) since December 8, and Trump conceded earlier this month.

This is the kind of hysteria being pumped by the mainstream media.

The idea that we need two infantry divisions, “tanks“ (I bet they are not really tanks) and the like, in response to some yahoos in Viking helmets and some online chatter is absolutely preposterous.

This is the poisoned chalice you are drinking from, Joe and Kamala. Enjoy it.

This is seriously bothering me. I've seen people say Trump or Pence did it; I've seen articles that say Pelosi ordered it through the Sargeant at Arms. It isn't at all clear who made the call.

The dems and MSM (but I repeat myself) want everyone to have the impression that Trump supporters are not just "deplorable" but dangerous insurrectionists. I think we'll find that the Republicans have to become a loyal opposition or will be removed for "insurrection". It has started.

You can't beat NPR's Morning Sedition for pure snottiness.  They stated, several times, that they would not carry Trump's departing remarks live, "because they couldn't fact-check any false statements that he might make."

There is nothing so churlish as a Leftist claiming "victory."

Wow. That almost implies they plan to do this for any Republican in the future where the speech has been provided to the media beforehand, having "debunking" statements up on the screen in real time.

Now

Biden first day actions.... rescind Trump EO's.

I'm less interested in who than when. If it was on or after January 6th, it was an attempt to make Trump supporters appear to be a much bigger threat than they are. (Narrator: They are not a threat at all.) The witch hunt for Trump supporters in the National Guard is just more theater to support their false claims that the right is full of violent domestic terrorists. They do this by redefining violence to exclude property damage, attacks on police, and any acts carried out by their pet lunatics in Antifa. It's all about projection.

It's almost all propaganda theater IMAO. There is enough disparate evidence to strongly suggest any violence at the Capitol was actions of agents provocateur. That has been leveraged out of proportion.

It is setting the stage for some disturbing stuff.

A purge in the Military is one.

Biden's defense secretary pick pledges to 'rid our ranks of racists and extremists'

We know what that "code" means.

It is already playing out in the civilian sector as "cancel culture".

Looking at all of the cash that has been flooded into the system in the last year, and how much we can expect The Usurper’s Administration will add in this next year, how soon will we see run away inflation?
Syrah 1/20/2021 9:41:30 AM
25

Inflation is a means to pay down fixed rate debt with cheap new dollars.

Our cash savings will be robbed of value.

Our real estate investments may hold value. (Nothing is guaranteed.)

Commodities may be a refuge.

”Green Energy” schemes may be profitable.

And the damnable, nearly useless paper masks look like they will be here forever so that might be something to look at.

IMAO I'm thinking 12-18 months.

The trigger will be the covid housing bubble, that is all the landowners who are underwater due to the ban on evictions. A large number of these landowners are going to default on their property loans, leaving banks holding the bag. There will be a dual bailout. One for the banks, two the government buying up a large number of these investment properties to protect the renters in them, it will be focused largely on minorities.

The bill for that will be in the my estimation $6 Trillion.

That will panic the markets, and set it all off. Hyperinflation, a recession bordering on depression, double digit interest, unemployment and inflation.

Please keep your seatbelts bucket we're in for some turbulence.

It is damned difficult to avoid buying Chinese made crap.

i think that problem will now certainly get worse.

i was looking at purchasing a mini-pc to replace an old machine. There are now mainland China companies pushing out attractively featured products at substantially lower prices than the non-Chinese made products.

i wonder if we are looking at a shift in innovation from the west to the east.

Your 12-18 month estimate matches my own guess. I was thinking that there is even a possibility that they could stall it to just past the midterm elections.

Looking at our local property market here in the Seattle area, we are seeing a lot of home purchasers leaving the City for outlying neighborhoods. My neighborhood has seen dramatic increases in home sale prices.

The Covid Panic and the riots are destroying the big blue cities. There is no need for the office towers in a work at home economy. There is no reason to live in Seattle if you can do the same work from home. The rioters are awful. Who wants to live in a city where they let spoiled children block freeways and smash small businesses?

I have been fortunate in that my renters are still paying their rent. If they can keep it going till the end of these insane moratoriums, we can keep the property and won’t have to panic sell it.

I am hoping that I will be able to leverage my property here to make a purchase out in a RedZone at some date here in the future. Some place full to the brim of big empty open spaces and crowed with a substantial lack of people. Even desert property is looking good now.

I hadn't factored in the office space. That takes a lot longer. A lot of property is outright owned or multi-year leases.

Tech companies will be looking divest office space and save that cost when employees can successfully work from home.

There is a bill in the Clowncil that poverty, mental or drug issues are an affirmative exculpatory defense for property crimes and simple assaults.

There is a number of homeless camps in the Wallingford neighborhood, as well as a couple of the small house "legal" camps.

Q13 Fox is at least saying crime is up, the other major outlets won't even say that much.

Lenovo was the company that bought the laptop arm of IBM and is, if I am not mistaken, in bed with the Communist Party. I have asked the question (with many frowns sent my way) about this issue at Lenovo tech meetings, and they always poo-poo it and divert attention to how many companies use their products and how they're number 1 on some chart. But they never answer this question outright.

(I am not well liked for being willing to ask such questions that are deemed impolite.)
