A glorious morning. Wife is off, internet is working mostly, and I have plans to cut up wood to make blanks for 1911 grips. First completed pair are done and oiled. Now it's about fine tuning production process. Salvaged barrel oak looks good oiled up. Will share pictures eventually.

I have a fat cat begging for more food. Off to church in a minute to revel in the glories of the 1928 Book of Common Prayer.  Closest I can get to the 1552.

as I commented yesterday; wereI to come into a lot of money along those lines, I would seriously consider “buying“ Swiss citizenship for myself and my son, and getting out. And it pains me to have to think that way.

According to Mass Media Donald Trump Accounting Practice.

I did not pay taxes, the government paid me.

Looks like my planning was pretty close, small refund... I prefer a small payment but last year was a strange one for us.

Portland is toast.

but then again, I strongly suspect that most big blue cities are going to have a hard time recovering from the government reaction to cv19 and the break down in law and order.

as for other aspects of the economy, how many red voters are going to feel that there isn’t much thrill in creating wealth that the government can tax away at a whim?

We don't even have all the data yet - no W-4's, no 1099's.

But both of us have been organizing the data we do have. Since my wife is self-employed, the taxes are complicated and we use an accountant. She sends out a paper "organizer" to be filled in. I have already scanned it and started filling it in using PDF software I have.

I've also retrieved financial data from various places for health and business expenses, and have a lot of that organized.

I sorted the paper records into "not important for taxes" and "may be useful for taxes". Next step is to sort the latter.

Of course, it will all be simpler under Biden. Just send in everything you earned and the government will send stimulus checks for what they think you need. Unless you are a Republican, in which case the IRS will be analyzing everything to make sure you spent nothing on "insurrection"*

*insurrection to be defined as doing anything leftists don't like.

China Flies Warplanes Near Taiwan in Show of Force, Prompting U.S. Warning

The sorties come in President Biden’s first week in office, a likely warning from Beijing to the new administration over its support for the island

We could have all predicted this, China will be flexing their muscles all over the world now that they have Biden comfortably in as commander and chief. His response will likely be no more than strong, if that, words of condemnation.

“We urge Beijing to cease its military, diplomatic, and economic pressure against Taiwan and instead engage in meaningful dialogue with Taiwan’s democratically elected representatives,” Mr. Price said in a statement. “Our commitment to Taiwan is rock-solid and contributes to the maintenance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and within the region.”

This wouldn’t have happened under Trump’s watch but if it did the response would have likely been “we demand” instead of “we urge”.

From Taiwan to Syria, the forces of war are on the march.

But we got rid of that guy that tweeted mean things so it was worth it. /
