Morning, campers. The most exciting thing about my job yesterday came when I called a vendor trying to confirm what size screws to use on a project--and I got bumped through 5 departments and still couldn't get an answer. I'm expecting a callback today. But seriously? You sell a product and then don't include the screws or provide details as to what size screws to use? SMH.

I think everyone is Freyed about now.

Reading more and more about the damage being done to kids by this insane lockdown.  Worse, I'm seeing it with my own kids, my daughter in particular.

As I don't watch or listen to any of the MSM, I'm curious to know if the precipitous drop in COVID cases (scroll down if the histogram doesn't show) is being report at all. This could simply be a result of the CDC's change to keep the cycle threshold on PCR tests back down to 30, but the talk about how vaccines are required before we can open up just makes me feel certain that they aren't sharing these results at all but carefully releasing just enough cases and deaths to convince people that the situation is absolutely dire.

PJMedia has an article about this that really highlights some of what is going on.

I’m very sorry to hear this. If you don’t mind saying, what sort of things are you seeing?

I am so sorry. Every time I read another article about your county's teachers refusing to go back, I want to punch a wall. I saw they were finally forced to return a few days ago yet the kids aren't allowed to return. I pray for her and your boys  (and you too, of course) daily.

Wait--they still aren't teaching the kids in person, even though the teachers are supposedly "back"? If I needed any more evidence that we are in bizarro world, this clinches it.

Nope. They set an arbitrary threshold of no more than 10% infection rate for two weeks before they allow the kids to come back. It's now at 11%. So it could drop to 9.9% but if it creeps up to 10.1% one day the clock restarts.

They're going crazy in the isolation.  My youngest at least has a friend in the neighborhood that he can hang out with, but that's only when he's here.  Because of the charter school, neither of the older kids' friends live anywhere near here -- my daughter's best friend lives almost 20 miles way.

I worry that my son is forgetting how to play with other kids.  I'm trying to do play dates and the like as time allows, but it's tough to coordinate.  He's a happy puppy, still, but it's  a lot of time playing by himself.  (I do what I can, of course, but work, physical therapy for me knee, etc.)

Hey, so here's a conspiracy theory (which I know is not the first time it's been vetted).  Given that people with psychological traumas/issues tend to be drawn to left-wing politics, perhaps this is all part of "the plan"?

I think this is one of those instances where it's incompetence and graft that are driving this rather than a coherent plan.  Democrats have to keep one of their main donor sources -- teachers' unions -- happy or else.  Everything is about the Benjamins, doncha know.  I think there is also a certain element of CYA -- don't do anything that would risk a spike in cases.  If there is a spike, they think they're fine so long as they just double down on draconia, but if they were to let up and then people got sick they would be vulnerable to accusations of "he killed people!"  DeBlasio and Cuomo have been safe because even though they're in the running for the Pol Pot awards, they can avoid the charge of "murderer!" because they've shut everything down they can think of.  In their eyes, if they relented they'd be in danger.

As for the kids, my hope is this will teach many of them that government is awful and can't be trusted.

I HATE THE ENTIRE CONCEPT OF PLAY DATES!!!!!!  Of course you live the Big City, but dammit, what ever happened to kids just hanging out and playing with each other?  We've moved beyond helicopter parents to cobra gunship parents.

Oh, maybe as a fringe benefit. But the goal was to remove people from their standard comfort zones and support systems, such as family, church, and civic organizations. That is working like gangbusters.

I get up get coffee, lay my clothes out take a shower.

Come out of the shower find two dogs laying on their backs, on my clothes, tails going a mile a minute, tongues lolling looking at me.

I suppose it could be worse, some mornings a cat sits on my tee-shirt and I have to fight him for it.

Plus put small businesses out of business so we have to rely on big businesses and the government.

And it is not just COVID doing this. How many businesses in the cities targeted by BLM will never reopen? Or if they do, with higher prices due to rebuilding costs and higher insurance. Then there will be the charge of price gouging, and the only businesses that can stay will be those that can make up their losses there with profits made elsewhere.

Well, my son is five years old. He can’t exactly get there himself. And since I’m having to bring him anyway I might as well hang out with the other parent.

Environmental dictatorship

The state’s $130,000-a-year undersecretary for climate change is being blasted by a fiscal watchdog for saying the administration needs “break” the will of taxpayers when it comes to heating homes and driving cars.

Ismay’s direct quote is: “So let me say that again, 60% of our emissions that need to be reduced come from you, the person across the street, the senior on fixed income, right… there is no bad guy left, at least in Massachusetts to point the finger at, to turn the screws on, and you know, to break their will, so they stop emitting. That’s you. We have to break your will. Right, I can’t even say that publicly.”

He simply "said the quiet part out loud", of course.

Earlier this year I partiicpated (somewhat against my will) in an online seminar through work about "Management adapting to disruptive change" or some such thing.  One of  highly-"credentialed" "experts" who did the presentation on point point said (quoting from memory):  "We've certainly all had to adapt to the pandemic... but all this is NOTHING compared to what we'll have to do to fight climate change1"

He had a gleam in his eye and a smile on his face when he said that.  He was completely jazzed about the idea.

So, putting the enitre population under quasi-house arrest is "nothing" compared to the stuff he fantasizes about doing to us.  So that would be... gulags?  Death camps?  What, exactly?

Just by the way, I was out to do some errands a little while ago and passed by the local Chase bank branch.

The window was covered with stickers accusing Chase of being "the world's worst backer of Climate Chaos!"

The nuts are really going to town.

As opposed to all those folks of the past who had to put together vaccination plans against measles, mumps, rubella, polio--you know, the little stuff.

Part of the time the Left wastes is trying to come up with their "equitable" vaccination schedules that ignore the science of who actually gets the sickest.

As you've said many times, this is what you get when people are no longer religious - they turn their pet notions into a religion.

Sad, but true. I have to wonder how much of the money going towards Biden's vaccination plans is going to end up in the pockets of fellow travelers.

A good day. New ISP up and running. At least three times faster then what we were dealing with. Went through my mom's paperwork and there's only one bill really due "immediately" and will be dealt with on Monday. Old internet cancelled no issues and we weren't charged for this month due to last month's issues so perfect. Got my schedule for next week and everything lined up.

Now the only thing I need is for the range to open up to get in some serious meditation.
