I made pancakes yesterday but they didn't look that pretty.

When I got up to make biscuits this morning I discovered my daughter had used up all the sugar.  This after pointedly telling her not to.

Good morning.  Little OR just asked me if all the matter in the known universe could fit inside the Milky Way galaxy. I don’t know.

Sit is precocious little back side down and Google for those figures.

You'll also have to teach him exponents.

This comes down to:

How big would a black hole have to be if it contained all the matter in the universe? What about dark matter?

And then, what is meant by fit inside. If you mean volume, that can be compared, but if you really mean fit inside, then the diameter of the black hole has to be less than or equal to the thickness of the Milky Way.

Normal matter mass 1.45×1053 kg

Size of black hole in KM = 3*mass in solar masses

Mass of Sun 2 x 1030 Kg

Mass of universe 7.25 x 1022 solar masses, means radius about 2.2 x 1023 KM

Milky way averages 100 Ly thick, or 9.46 x 1014 KM,

So no by several orders of magnitude.

Can also compare with the largest size of the galaxy, the dark matter halo size 2 MLy (million light years) or just under 2 x 1019 KM, so the answer is still no.

And note I did use google to get the figures, but I have a phone app (RealCalc) that does conversions. Doesn't include solar mass, though.

Remember, I used to teach Astronomy online.

By Jupiter, that makes you a star!

"Cancel culture" notwithstanding, the Biden Administration is reportedly entering into a secret agreement with the Dr. Seuss estate, to bring out a new "Dr. Seuss" book touting the Administration's foreign policy.

It will be called If Iran the Jews.

See?  Socialism turns everyone into a millionaire!

So in Venezuela, when you take enough cash to buy bread, you need a wheelbarrow. When you go into the store (and find they don't have bread), when you come out, the cash is on the ground and the wheelbarrow is gone.

(Recycling Weimar Republic joke)

I forgot to give the reason for comparing the size of a black hole. That is the smallest configuration for a given amount of matter.

Cuomo hit on one
Said, "I know things that might be fun."
He spoke of brandishing his "sword"
This first intern came forward

Cuomo hit on two
Said he knew things he'd like to do
Faced with the monsters from his id
This young lady told what he did

Cuomo hit on three
Said, "At the top it's so lonely"
She cared not for his solitude
And told media he'd been rude

Cuomo hit on four
Said, "Wear high heels, or---out the door!"
But rather than don stilettoes
She told the media what she knows

Cuomo hit on five
Said, "I'm still politically alive!"
But that's increasingly in doubt
As his old allies want him out.

---apologies to "This Old Man"

lucius septimius 3/7/2021 2:59:22 PM
This would be a perfect basis for a parody about Cuomo -- Reaper Man.

This is not even a complete version of the clip in the film---which is not, itself, a complete version of the song---but it's a much better version.

And, in anticipation of the next Cuomo accuser, we have Cliff Edwards doing "Six Women" ("Me and Henry VIII").

You know what would make a great Babylon Bee article? Maybe I'll write for them when I retire (assuming it isn't canceled)

"Biden nominates Cuomo to be in charge of Social Security and Medicare, because of his great work reducing the cost of keeping the elderly alive"
