Awakened just before 6 by the noise of a dog throwing up. Got the dog into the bathroom, cleaned where he threw up, went back to sleep, or tried to. 2nd alarm didn't go off because it has two alarms - Mon-Fri, and Sat, Sun - and when I set it ahead the date didn't get changed. Somehow realized it should have gone off, woke enough to fix it and get a bit more snooze.

Still not awake right. Internal clock thinks it is an hour earlier, of course.

Same here. I got a lot of home stuff done Saturday but yesterday I was a complete slug and could not get anything done.

And apparently there was a disaster this weekend at work (small in scope, thank goodness) but no one ever contacted me. I can't decide if I am thrilled or if I should be worried.

Serious question:  how do we make the evil, cynical, greedy, hateful teachers unions, administrators, and educational bureaucrats who are killing our children through this idiotic "virtual school" pay?  Can they be sued?

I don't know. A lot of parents have pulled their kids out of the public schools over the last 10 years, but that hasn't caused the schools to change the way they operate or how they think--nor has it changed the formulas used to pay for public education.

I think the problem is exacerbated because there's no feedback loop to public school administrators to make them realize they need to improve their product. There's not enough competition to change the behavior. Right now, they act like they have a monopoly and state laws in many places support this.

The only thing I can see would be to change the laws, but how is the question.

And while colleges and universities could take this opportunity to explain to the unions that students aren't able to successfully complete college because of the poor prep in public schools, they are in many ways in bed with the unions and just keep saying we need to "rethink" what we offer in college.

We need to stop "ableism" in sports.

I want to be able to win an Olympic gold medal.

And I want to be paid like a top athlete on a pro team. They need to make the games easier so I can play!

Just remind yourself: I have a job. I am paid to sit here. That's about the only thing that got me through ours.

Sadly, I don't think there's anything we can do. There are too many idiot liberal white women who have bought into the panic who support this travesty. Of course, they all have the means to make sure their kids don't fall behind and screw anyone who has a special needs child, lacks Internet access, or has to work and can't help with schoolwork.

I managed to keep my mouth shut most of the time, but when they were talking about whether it was appropriate to comment on a student's provocative dress, I could not help saying, "So...we get rid of all standards of deportment which are designed to discourage inappropriate activity, and then when someone engages in inappropriate activity we come down on them like a ton of bricks?  That seems to be at cross-purposes."

At least I refrained from suggesting that we should encourage the students take a leaf from pre-nup agreements, and sign pre-schtup agreements before doing anything.

Very quickly "STEM" became 'STEAM" by adding "art" into the equation.  At one fell-swoop it went from something sciency to utter twaddle.

As usual, the Simpsons predicted it.

Just got back from my vaccine appointment. I got Pfizer. The hospital system here runs a very efficient operation - in and out in 35 minutes, including the 15 minute observation period. No reaction so far, not even soreness at the injection site. They even booked my second appointment for 3 weeks from today.

I can just imagine someone seeing their beloved after getting their vaccine, and saying, "I've just gotten my shots, mein schatz!"

I'm excited about being able to tell people to sod off when they go all Karen on me. I am so angry about the way this has been handled, especially how it was used to steal the election and what it's done to children.
