Good morning, campers.

Today's insanity: saying that being woke with regard to colonialism is more important than any accomplishments in math and science. Therefore in today's measurement, Isaac Newton is a loser who benefitted from "colonialism."

C.S. Lewis wrote brilliantly about the fallacy of pushing today's morals on the people of the past. John Locke, who wrote about tolerance of viewpoints, is now seen as simply a racist.

A leaked copy of the ‘draft inclusive curriculum development’ to ‘decolonise’ the engineering curriculum at Sheffield University warns that Newton may have benefited from ‘colonial-era activity’. Apparently, the engineering faculty at Sheffield will decolonise its curriculum in an effort to tackle ‘long-standing conscious and unconscious biases’ among students, to challenge ‘Eurocentric’ and ‘white saviour’ approaches to science and maths, and to promote ‘inclusive design’. That is another way of saying students should feel guilty and show their loathing for the founders of the science they are studying.

The level of stupidity is criminal, but then they want to destroy anyone who doesn't agree with them. What is almost funny (because I'm desperate to find humor in the situation) is that they really don't understand how they are not creating people who can maintain the infrastructure we have now.

Not sure if folks saw this, but sharing here just in case:

People will willing to go along with private companies censoring content on their platforms because they are private entities and not state or federal governments that are bound by law to maintain free speech. So what do you do when the state of California tells you to censor speech because it's politically inconvenient?

These new documents suggest a conspiracy against the First Amendment rights of Americans by the California Secretary of State, the Biden campaign operation, and Big Tech,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “These documents blow up the big lie that Big Tech censorship is ‘private’ – as the documents show collusion between a whole group of government officials in multiple states to suppress speech about election controversies.”

Well, according to government officials, the firm sending them the posts to take down or delete aren't meddling in free speech, they are simply getting rid of "misinformation." This pernicious decision that anyone has the right to get rid of misinformation is stunningly bad, but the fact that the state government told them to do it is now in the realm of actionable lawsuit.

Oh, and OR, I hope you've had a chance to go back and look at that executive action that the White House posted about blocking property of those who are assumed to have partaken in harmful activities benefitting Russia

I can't help but wonder if this started as a Soviet plot to destroy the west. A long-term project, getting leftists in place in academia, and then bring out this crap. Although nowadays, I think the Chinese took advantage of it.

Decolonializing engineering? We go back to straw huts and woven baskets, carrying water on the head?

You may be right about that.

Of course, then the CDC is now classifying everyone in terms of "vaccinated" and "unvaccinated", and therefore telling us what we can and cannot do based on that status. Notice how they completely ignore that people who have had COVID should be immune to it without needing the vaccine (while they might still react to variants, chances are good the illness will not be as severe). This NOT scientific.

I know some people there, and their public-health system is supposed to be very good, but aside from the old adage, "How do you retire to Israel with a small fortune? Move there with a large fortune," they do have high taxes, controls on things like car ownership that would probably make even Californians drool, and a legal system that is, if not exactly Byzantine, is still a mishmash of carryovers from both the Ottoman and British colonial eras, as well as the overlay of modern Israeli law. Plus, while English is fairly common, it is not ubiquitous, and my Hebrew, especially my spoken Hebrew, is spotty at best.

The Big Pivot

Pivot from COVID to GUN VIOLENCE.

With the CDC announcing mask aren't needed outside, FL and TX opening up and the vaccine rollout all the "emergency" measures are becoming less and less sustainable.

Fauci calls surge in gun violence a public health crisis

They proven they can get most people to go along if they declare it public health emergency.

By calling public health emergency they "avoid" legislative and Constitutional processes and constraints, or so they think.

Remember the Seattle case which sets the precedent that public health officials have plenopentitary powers in matter of public health, not subject to review by the public or other branches of government.

Biden's EO's regarding "gun violence".

It looks to me like it is going to be an all out assault on the Second Amendment this summer.

Let me fill in the blanks media won't....

Woman critically injured at electrical vault in Seattle's Ballard area

The Seattle Fire Department says the electrical vault is above ground - but did not say what the woman was doing there.

Instead of telling the truth, she was homeless and broke into the vault. Media covers up the problems with the homeless.

At least in Boston, when they talk about reducing "gun violence", they talk about removing illegal guns from gangbangers. Somehow, a lot of this city remained sane.

Very few legal guns are used in crimes, but criminals, including convicted felons, seem to be able to get guns easily illegally.

But just like "defund the police", this isn't about reducing crime, but about control.

Conversation I am expecting

Store: Are you vaccinated?

Me: Sorry that is privileged information.

Store: We can't let you in unless you are vaccinated.

Me: It a Federal offense under HIPAA to even ask.

That is exactly the right way to go about this.

More defunding considered if Seattle police departures continue

As the Seattle Police Department continues to lose officers a debate is building over what to do with the savings from those open positions.

Looks like this could explain the difference in reactions to COVID vaccines

Those who had COVID have a much stronger reaction to the vaccine.

Based on this, I believe my wife and I had it, back before they shut everything down. She had symptoms, but they weren't looking for it yet. (Early 2020) I didn't have symptoms but I can't imagine she had it and I didn't.

Which makes it sound like the vaccine was actually seen as another instance of the virus in the body, right? Which means... the vaccine actually wasn't necessary?

I'll go read the article, but this seems close to the definition of "insane."

There was a comment that the virus itself does not confer the same immunity as the vaccine, which I would expect has something to enhance the immune response (common in vaccines for many years), so it is unclear whether the vaccine does help those who have had COVID.

There have been people who had COVID again without the vaccine, and vaccinated people who do get it (but afaik, no vaccinated person has had to be hospitalized, or if so, the incidence of serious cases is much lower)
