Good morning. Our breakfast table only has two legs in the picture above. A bit odd.

I believe the back two are hidden, one behind the part along the side of the table and the other behind the milk jug.

You may be right, but it might be more accurate to call it a carafe, which has either orange juice or something that looks like apple juice or tea in it. I don't see any milk in the picture.

We do not live in a republic any more, nor do we live in a democracy.

We live in a malarchy.

I've used that one, too---but given Biden's love for the word "malarkey," "malarchy" increasingly seems le mot juste.

In Illinois as the COVID situation ramped up, Pritzker divided the state into 5 regions and said restrictions in each region would be based on the metrics of number cases, number of positive tests, etc. Well, we've been doing very well as a state--I would argue the numbers are about as close to normal as we can get--and yet now the governor has announced a "bridge" phrase before we can go back to normal.

This is a bit ridiculous. They already set up a clear plan for mitigation protocols last year. According to those protocols, we should be fully open. We've met the criteria. But apparently that much freedom is too much for the governor, despite Texas and Florida being completely open and not seeing any increases in cases.

What makes it more annoying is when the new standard says "While regulations are rolled back gradually, Illinoisans should continue following the public health guidelines that have kept us safe during the pandemic, like wearing a mask in public and social distancing." That makes it sound like the bridge rollback is going to be continuing for months and months. There's a lot of "the state could" language in the announcement as opposed to "the state will".

What I'm seeing looks exactly like the carafe on the table itself.

I missed that little gem.

The hate for Tim Scott is unbelievable. I'm shocked (though I shouldn't be) at the number of white liberals who think it's okay to call him Uncle Tom, or the oh so clever Uncle Tim. Not one in ten of them could explain where it comes from.

If you are at home, turn off modem (cable or dsl) for at least a minute to get a new IP address. You might have gotten one being overused to request videos. If at work, some number of people are trying to use youtube and it is throttling the connection.

That's all I could find on it

I'm at work, so no way to really do that without jumping through a bunch of hoops. Frankly, I'm not that worried about it. I rarely use YouTube.

Good thing you mentioned that, I did believe it until I saw your comment and went back to check the link origin.  Nothing is too bizarre to be true now days.  And here I thought my old Uno card game with going to suddenly become really valuable on eBay.  Oh well, I still have all my Dr Suess books from when I was just a child.

I wish I had the books I learned to read from. I had an aunt who was a 2nd grade teacher, and she got obsolete readers the school was getting rid of, probably from the 20's-30's.

I had my parents point to the words as they read to me, and could read before I was in kindergarten. I was beyond the Dr. Seuss books by the time I remember them coming out. I could read the entire Dick and Jane books in the time it took the class to read one chapter.

Of course, in today's woke world, by the time kids learn to read in 3rd grade or so, they'll be reading "See Jane's Dick"
