Reply to Occasional Reader in 14: Some of the comments miss something important - taxes are not indexed to inflation. So if costs and wages both go up 5%, once you get into the next tax bracket, you take home less. And places want a "millionaire's tax". Eventually, everyone working becomes a millionaire! At least we won't have to carry around our money in a wheelbarrow; we'll pay by plastic or electronically.

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 15: Biden's proposed millionaire wealth tax is a not even a tax. It is a taking pure and simple. 25% on wealth over 50 million. That will bankrupt thousands of small businesses and farms. It's not hard to have net worth as businessman or farmer of $50M. But not a penny is liquid or fungible. It's land, buildings, equipement, stock and inventory. How many business and farms could divest themselves of 25% of their assets and survive? What I would like to know is which economic fuckwit came up with that plan.... It's not Marxism... it's only 1/4 Marxism.

I saw an article last week stating that the many countries are joining the US in asking for a .... wait for it .... 15% task on each person in all these countries for funds to go to the UN.

Reply to JCM in 16: I was actually thinking about Massachusetts' proposed "millionaire tax" which is on income, and requires a state constitutional amendment. The state constitution requires a single tax rate. That will be coming up for a vote in an election next year, I think. It has been defeated so far every time, but the state larcinature legislature just wants more money.
