So about to start day 2 of cleaning things up.  Luckily the most current statement from her broker arrived in the mail yesterday so I know precisely what everything is worth.  I didn't know she had so much Pfizer stock.

Just a guess, but I'm thinking she may not have known, either.

She actually kept very meticulous records up until the last couple of months.  I want to look at her computer but it has vanished.  Pretty sure I know why.

And what on earth were they hoping to accomplish with that final barrage, just prior to 11 am?

Anyway.  My heartfelt gratitude to our veterans.

I'm so sorry. The situation involving my father's death was really odd, but in that case my family and I were in agreement over everything.

Everybody's workin' up an appetite
'Cause the supermarket shelves are really bare, that's right
Joe Biden's policies are causing economic blight
To distract us as he undermines our civil rights
Skyrocketing? Right!
Economic blight
Economic blight
Economic blight

---apologies to "Afternoon Delight"

I had no family problems with my parents' death.

I am an only child.

Joe Biden's gonna put y'all back in supply chains!

We don't have a supply chain problem.

We have a government problem.

As the mother of an only child, I have to ask, do you regret having no siblings.  I'm afraid to ask my own child; plus would he answer honestly?

True.  I was merely riffing on Biden's racist claim to blacks that the Republicans would "put y'all back in chains," conflated with the current "supply chain" disruptions.

Even better! Gallon of gasoline decreased from $2.00 to $3.50, a 75% decrease!

I don't think I can answer that question, I don't know if that would have helped my problems dealing with people (never got various forms of jokes that were in the form of insults but indicated affection; did not know how to deal with it as a child or even understand them). Maybe a sibling would have helped; maybe it would have made for a worse sibling rivalry.

Well, the government is trying to make us all slaves to them. Their policies will result in many people relying on government services, as stores close due to high crime, and jobs continue to be shipped to China and India.

i have to say; I've not personally seen this, so far, other than in relation to certain specific items (e..g. "Lunchables" for kids, which now seem to be back on the shelves).

Just this morning I was at the Safeway, and there was a giant freezer filled to the brim with turkeys.  [shrug]

There are several sections of shelves in my local supermarket that have been bare for the last week or so.

Biden's weird, rambling remarks yesterday about the "supply chain problem", coupled with his apparent astonishment at how high gasoline prices are (bringing to mind this reaction), was, ah, something to behold.

Kroger also had plenty of Butterballs for $1.99/lb. That's comparable to last year. I want to buy mine now in case of later shortages, but making room in the freezer is a challenge.

If you know why, you probably know where and by whom.

My mom left almost nothing but the house, and one of my brothers still tried to create problems. It's what some people do.

Thank you for your honesty.  Ultimately, the decision was mine to make and to mine live with, but sometimes I wonder if I made the right decision.  Too late now to second guess myself.  I have two sisters.  One is nine years older, she was my second mother.  The other is six years older and considered me as her arch enemy (she was dethroned as the "baby").  I have now become the second mother to my oldest sister and the best friend to my other sister. My father gifted me with my sense of humor. He taught me to never take myself too seriously and to appreciate a good joke, even if it was at my expense.  Probably the best thing he did for me.  I can't say for sure if I'm better off because of my sisters, but have a hard time imagining my life without them in it.  My son is remarkably well adjusted, he also has my father's sense of humor.  Can't imagine siblings would have made him any better.

So, fellow domestic terrorists, do you think there will still be any real alternatives to the swamp dwellers on both sides?

Bringing Counterterrorism Back Home

Hoffman noted that far-right ideologues preach “accelerationism,” a doctrine that urges its adherents to encourage and foment chaos to hasten the inevitable collapse of the existing system. But in less than a year, the political party that runs the system has pushed middle-class America to the brink of despair, with rising gas and food prices, ballooning inflation, open borders, a supply chain crisis, and experimental medical treatment mandates that have hollowed out heath care facilities and fire and police departments, and may impair the combat readiness of the U.S. armed forces.

Hoffman’s attempt to blame Trump supporters for the mess created by the country’s ruling class is an aspect of an information operation designed to deflect blame for elite decision-making onto a domestic opponent that does in fact seek to remove them from power by legal means: through the vote. And that’s partly what the effort to paint Trump supporters as domestic terrorists is about—to delegitimize the legitimate opposition in the in lead-up to the 2022 midterms.

“Domestic terror” is the establishment’s campaign platform. Sure, gas is almost $5 a gallon, heating oil prices are worse than in the 1970s, and grandma may need a fourth booster shot of a vaccine whose protective properties seem a lot less important to policymakers than the money that pharmaceutical companies—now the single biggest lobbying group in Washington—are receiving from the federal government. But what will your neighbors think if you vote for domestic terrorists? And why should domestic terrorists be permitted to incite domestic terror among their domestic terrorist base by advertising or posting on Facebook?

My emphasis

And this points to why the "Let's Go, Brandon!" wave is so cleverly subversive.  It's both bold and cheerful; it makes fun of all these clowns, and their pretensions, and their panic-mongering.  Even for the Progs, even with their near-total control of the commanding heights of the media, it's hard to effectively paint a bunch of people in a sports stadium chanting "let's go, Brandon!' as terrorists.
