Gosh. How thoughtful--and it's not even Christmas yet!

Not a bad earworm, really.  Better than "Driving my Life Away" by Eddie Rabbitt.

Got mom's death certificate today.  Now comes the fun part - clearing the landmines she left behind in her estate.  Not big ones, but enough to cause headaches and provide opportunities for people to get nasty.  My uncle, the executor, said he feels now like his big sister "played" him.  As I explained, yeah, that's sort of what she did.  Life with mom was an endless round of Lucy and the football.

I have decided to take the week off.  It's frustrating that I haven't been able to make much project on my "new career" in the past three months because of mom issues, but I also know that trying to do anything genuinely productive this week will be just cause for frustration and anxiety.  I'll have to wait until after Thanksgiving to try to get back into a regular schedule.

Pushing everything back six months is yet another going-away present from mom. Thanks a bunch.

... including, before I woke up.  It was incorporated in some fashion into a dream, in which (the dream) I realize that I impulsively (while under the influence of alcohol) bought a $44,000 (exact figure) speedboat, and am wondering if I can cite the alcohol as meaning that I was legally incompetent to sign the contract of sale, such that I can return the boat and get my money back.

When i woke up, I was glad to know that I had not, in fact, drunkenly spent $44,000 on a speedboat.

I don't mean to pry, but I honestly don't understand what your uncle means. If you can explain that to me here, the Frontier, or directly by email, I'd appreciate that. I know I was upset about how my father did stuff, but then I learned things about myself that no one ever told me until after he died. So this is something I am somewhat familiar with.

Thanks.

And now I've found a reference to a life insurance policy that was not in any of her papers in a letter to me from 2006 that was never sent.

You're exhausted from travel and stress, and it's not over yet. Taking the week to decompress is necessary self-care. When it's over, you can move forward with renewed energy.

And Rittenhouse

Shot three guys from antifa in Kenosha

Two of them died, but not the third one, no

Though it was self-defense, they're trying to send him to prison

So that violent "protests" will continue to grow...

When my now-ex-gf's (Little OR's mom) father died suddenly in 2012, it was only by going through his belongings in his place (I was there, as was gf, and other family members) that we found documentation for a $100,000 life insurance policy that he had taken out, naming her (gf) as the beneficiary.

This is all making me think I should organize the paperwork for my meager estate. It's pretty simple - everything is divided equally among my 3 kids - but I should have a will and put everything in one folder.

Feh.

No no no no no no

You need to make everything as much of a confusing mess as possible.  That way you will remain in their thoughts long after you've gone.

Looking back on the only piece of paper I have where she laid out in any kind of detail the location of the files (this from 2006) I strongly suspect that she avoided getting everything organized out of fear of death.  Organizing everything would have been an admission that the time was at hand and, given her manner of thinking, might well have hastened her demise.  As long as things were scattered she wouldn't die.

So, among the other lunacy and ethical-misconduct, apparently Persecutor Binger stated in his closing argument at the Rittenhouse trial that Kyle should have fired "warning shots".

It is BLACK LETTER FREAKING LAW, in terms of armed self-defense, that there is basically no place for "warning shots".

Binger should be disbarred.

‘A World Gone Mad’: Upscale LA Neighborhood Wrestles With Worsening Homeless Crisis

“It’s a world gone mad,” Venice resident Deborah Keaton told The Epoch Times. “It’s our own making, too. I’m a liberal, a Democrat, and we voted for these measures that decriminalize a lot of this behavior, and so there’s no repercussions for these guys.”

A friend of mine found out when her parents died that they had opened small bank accounts in every llttle bank in a 50-100 mile radius of their homes, yes they had lived in more than one location.  Every time a local bank offered a free toaster or some other prize if you opened an account, they would deposit the minimum amount just to get the free gift.  It took her forever to locate all the accounts they had opened.  Just when you things can't get any worse, they do...  You truly have my DEEPEST sympathy.

This may be the worst performance by a prosecutor since Mike Nifong. I can't find it now, but an article I read suggested the elected DA fobbed the case off on Binger to avoid tarnishing his own reputation. It's a garbage case that should never have been brought, but had to be for political reasons.

Sorry, Babylon Bee, but parody of the Wokesters is now officially impossible.

Perhaps Sesame Street hasn't done this yet, but Super-Woke Corporate America has already gone there, more or less... and beyond

Well this is interesting.  In mom's papers are my old medical records.  One item shows that when I was 5 1/2 months old I had a broken collar bone.  I've never heard of this.  Given that mom regularly loved to rattle off my various ailments it's curious that this one was never mentioned.

How does a 5 1/2 month old break a collar bone?
