German Covid cases hit new record high

This despite a high vaccination rate.

Hmmm.

The same has happened in Israel and Scotland and is starting to appear in Germany as well.

I've seen a hypothesis that widespread vaccination puts evolutionary pressure on the virus to mutate, in a way that naturally-acquired immunity does not.  I'm not sure what to believe, frankly.

I've seen two other theories presented:

  • Natural immunity is much weirder than we understand, and that the "first bug to infect" has a lot of control over what we are immune from. This has a few different names, one of which is "original sin" theory
  • The vaccines are producing a type of acquired immunodeficiency disease, and by suppressing the immune system we will not only see a huge increase in the number of people who will get COVID after the vaccine but it will also result in an increase in cancers and other serious illnesses.

I think it's too early to understand why (there may yet be a different problem with the vaccines that hasn't been identified yet), but the numbers so far are troubling.

There were a bunch of talking heads on Morning Sedition the other day---including, I think, a clip from Biden---talking about how no, we're not going to dip into the strategic reserve.   We're going to pressure OPEC and sue Saudi Arabia to produce more, instead.

Which one? The acquired immunodeficiency one? Yeah, that one isn't supported by anyone I can find willing to put their name on it. At this point, it's more in the area of a conspiracy theory because it is being hyped by websites that are focusing on (possibly a lot of) anecdotal information. One example is The Daily Expose. They at least are grabbing their data from official websites, such as the UK Health Security Administration, but then they focus on statistics. They have also shared information from nurses working in hospitals that have seen a sudden uptick in all sorts of odd illnesses that have historically been rare.

By the way, I hate to be cynical, but the sudden trumpet-blasting announcement that New York's DA is going to ask to have two of the men convicted for murdering Malcolm X exonerated is clearly a blatant political move to inflame the "systemic racism/police are evil and racist" crowd, just in time to get them all ginned up in the event of a verdict favorable to Rittenhouse, and as an oblique slap at those who are opposing the spread of "critical race theory."

Don't get me wrong---if there is evidence to exonerate two of the men convicted, that's very nice, even if one is dead and the other has his foot on a banana peel by an open grave.  I'm merely pointing out that the announcement itself, and the timing, is flagrantly political---not only because it is being used to inflame racial tensions today, but because it also operates to obscure the most important fact, that Malcolm X was murdered in a black-on-black crime because he attempted to break with the criminal black-Nazi gang known as the "Nation of Islam."

Backing up your point; an NPR piece bemoaning "what can Biden do?" regarding surging energy prices; with zero mention of "getting the Fed boot off the domestic production" as an option   Domestic production is mentioned only in passing, regarding a proposal to ban oil US oil exports.

Climate delusions....

Because even if we gain control of the climate, we’re still — it’s not going to go back to what it was before.  It’s not going to be that way.

Biden signing porkulus 4.0 into law.

We can't we won't be able to control the climate. Controlling the climate would mean controlling the sun.

Go back to when? Climate is ever change.

Reminder:  The people who are demanding to be given "control of the climate" for the entire planet are the same people who have proven over the last half-century-plus that they can neither competently run, nor maintain, recently-built, closed, man-made systems.  They cannot maintain the "roads and bridges" they are always prating about; cannot maintain municipal water systems, the public transportation they want to force people to use, the public housing they have built.   They cannot, of course, prevent floods, or wildfires (indeed, they have exacerbated those), or tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes or volcanic eruptions---and they have proven incapable of competently conducting responses to or relief from those disasters.  They cannot say what the optimum "climate" is for the planet, let alone why they believe it to be a certain thing; they cannot explain how they will exert the control necessary to maintain it.

Yet they demand that they be given carte blanche to impose this control.

Kenosha Schools Go Virtual During Rittenhouse Deliberations

Sounds like they're afraid of the "mostly peaceful" demonstrations that will follow.  I wonder if they came up with this plan on their own or was attendance down so low they had to.  I certainly wouldn't have sent my kids out there, but then I wouldn't even live in Kenosha in the first place.

Good grief, end of the third day and still no verdict.  Woman jurist asks judge if she and can take the juror instructions home with her and he allows it.  I still can't believe they're not sequestered.  MSNBC followed one home last night.  This whole thing is unbelievable.

IMAO opinion the prosecutor's actions have been begging for a mistrial.

The media's actions have been begging for a mistrial.

Why?

The both know the case has no legs.

An acquittal will be bad for them.

A mistrial is "justice denied".

I think the jury is being careful and taking their time. They know they will be under a microscope.

Or the left got a couple ringers seated and they are hung.
