Well, this is Cornell, not Brown.

More seriously; this is not a public school, so that’s not directly on point. I’m sure they do, however, receive federal money.

I strongly encourage the Biden administration to take this tactic and run with it.

gasoline prices are something that people see graphically and feel viscerally. It will be fun watching  Biden trying to convince people “ you should be thanking me” (in the immortal words of his last democrat predecessor).

And the number of COVID deaths dropped from 385,000 last year to over 386,000 this year. Well done, Biden.

Full circle, the left fought for civil rights and free speech.

Now they fight for segregation and suppression of speech.

And the woke federal bureaucracy (which was in power long before Biden came along) demands that they do shit like this.

Student loans = federal oversight = massive college bureaucracies to ensure "compliance" = huge salaries for professional administrators = implementation of woke ideologies that they think will ensure that they move up the career ladder and never have to face the consequences.

Kill FAFSA and the whole corrupt system would come crashing down.  But no one will ever do that for fear of offending the upper middle class who benefits most from the corruption and who vote like the dickens.

As the Democrat party turns further to the Stalinist left, they become increasingly anti-Semitic, using the old Soviet dodge of "anti-Zionism" as a screen.  And it's an effective one given how monumentally stupid the overwhelming majority of people are.

As for policies, the Democrats know that they own Jews to much the same extent they own Blacks.  Yes, there are exceptions, but not enough to really worry them.  Meanwhile, they are more than happy to cater to Jew-hating Islamists, mainly because both share in common a violent hatred of America and the West generally.  And don't forget that since Nassar, they've had a sort of admiration for Arab socialist dictators.

The Black vote for Democrats is going down while the "Jewish" vote for Democrats is not much, if at all.

Too many are Democrats first, Jews second.

A friend of mine was from a Jewish family that had fled Thessaloniki during the war - 1/3 ended up in Israel, 1/3 in the US, and 1/3 were killed.

He always lamented that every time his parents voted they still believed they were pulling the lever for Adlai Stevenson.

Hence their decision to make everything about Blacks and "White Supremacism" in the hopes they can keep them on the plantation. In the process they're alienating Hispanic voters, but Dems are so ideologically-addled to be able to understand that that would happen.

The one group I don't get are Indians - they are consistently Democrats for no reason that makes sense to me, unless growing up in India just made them assume socialism was the way to go.

Not the Indian guy who owns a local convenience store. He used to have a sign something like "You keep your hope, I'll keep the change"

Very hard working family. Was an employee at the store when the owner died and got it for a good deal from his widow.

Admittedly, the store is somewhat rundown, but I go there usually when I need something. Convenient, and they are always friendly. Other store would ignore me until that was sold to new management. Third one now owned by I think Muslims (even though it sells beer and wine), because of the way they look at me.

Both the US and Israel have had one fatality from omicron, each. Both with underlying health problems. Israeli was 72; don't know about the American.

Based on the HUUUUUUGE NUMBER OF CASES!!!!!!!!! we're hearing about, this seems to be milder than most seasonal flus, especially in terms of fatalities.

As I've said, I think we'd be better off letting it spread and giving us immunity against other variants.

So, the Omicron Variant (again, sounds like a ST:TOS ep) has at least pulled ahead of Alec Baldwin in body-count.

Or a bad science fiction movie. And the latter makes sense since most science fiction movies are not very scientific.

They're going crazy in my corner of Illinois. The local university has said that the first two weeks of instruction for the spring will be online. Yeah, right. I'm guessing it will end up being all semester again.

I will take this moment to pat myself on the back for seeing the current  Covid home-test shortage coming; and stocking up with five kits (ten tests, that is) during the last couple of weeks.

And no, I'm not a Wuhan Flu Panic-Monger; but I certainly would not want to, say, visit my 80-plus-year-old parents while carrying the bug.

Forgive me asking, but which test kit is this? Is it one that can't distinguish between regular flu and COVID? Because the regular RT-PCR test that was originally crafted by the CDC can't tell the difference and generates a lot of false positives.

Abbott BINAX Now.

I am not certain if it distinguishes between Covid-19 and flu, but frankly, I don't want to visit my parents if I have either.  And I'd confirm any positive result with a PCR test anyway.
