The article just identifies him as a "British national", but it does go into detail about the terrorist he wanted released. I'm going to guess he has connections to Pakistan. The idea that any attack on a synagogue is “not specifically related to the Jewish community” is absurd enough.

Well he was Malik Faisal Akram, a 44-year-old British citizen, was the "hostage taker" at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, near Fort Worth, Special Agent in Charge Matthew DeSarno with the FBI Dallas Field Office confirmed in an email to Fox News Digital. I'm shocked that his name indicates a connection to the Religion of Peace.
