Heh.  The breakfast on the right looks like a mere, tolkein gesture.

And in other news, it would appear that President Grandpa Simpson gave Putin the green light in last night's rambling mess of a presser to invade Ukraine.

It is impossible to see intelligence, coherence, or courage in the current administration's foreign policy, no matter how hard Ukraine your neck.

A vaccine mandate at the federal level? Illegal, as it breaks constitutional law.

A vaccine mandate for healthcare workers at the county level? Will probably be considered to be OK, despite the fact that there is sufficient evidence to suggest that the vaccines actually make people more susceptible to COVID.

Jordan Peterson: Why I'm no longer a tenured professor.

This is really terrifying to read, but consistent with what I've seen.  DIE is the death, quite literally, of the academy.

Only if he takes just a little piece of it.  You know, sort of like the Sudetenland or something.

Joe is basically okay with Russia sniffing Ukraine's hair.   Something like that.

So will the NY Times report that Ukraine invaded Russia requiring the Russians to conquer Ukraine?

One comment I've seen this morning:

If you ever get the chance to play poker against Joe Biden, take it.

Since the Democrat leadership is always babbling about "bipartisanship," they must be thrilled at their bipartisan defeat on the filibuster and voting-rights issues.

I'm hearing about conversations second hand where at least one speaker has said, "Just make sure you hire someone who is BIPOC, and we'll be okay." Not that we'll hire the best person for the job based on merit.

Sigh.

My daughter-in-law is Ukrainian.  I texted my son last night and he said her family is okay for now. Her parents don't really want to to leave but it may come to that.

So I'll update my list, in anticipation:

Democrats in 2000: Bush stole the election!

Democrats in 2004: Bush stole the election - again!

Democrats in 2016: The Russians hijacked the election!

Democrats in 2020: Anyone who questions the pristine integrity of our electoral system is guilty of insurrection, and sedition, and treason!

Democrats in early 2022: Our electoral system is so tainted, that a Federal takeover is necessary, and anyone who thinks otherwise is a racist!

[ANTICIPATORY UPDATE] Democrats in late 2022: The Republicans stole the mid-term elections!

[SECOND ANTICIPATORY UPDATE] Democrats in 2024: DeSantis stole the election!

Yes, my post (at Insty as well) was prompted by that story. So call it "semi-anticipatory update".

And the hits just keep on coming:

So, those "free" Covid test kits that Joe promised Uncle Sugar would send to all of us?  Yeah, they're not supposed to be stored at temperatures below around 35 degrees F, minimum; or they likely turn to junk.  Place your bets as to whether the USPS chain-of-delivery has factored this in, during the coldest month of the year; and then, of course, they'll sit in unheated mailboxes for X number of hours.

Something else about them 1 week to deliver, then 2 weeks to get results back.

If you feel sick and request a kit, you won't know if it's COVID for minimum of 3 weeks.

In other words the who free kits exercise is an exercise in futility.

You could request kits to have on hand when you feel sick - but two weeks is longer than the current quarantine, and the time it would take to develop a serious case.

So all it would do is say you had COVID.

The link has a map of states where the tests won't freeze:

So the states that the tests will work are Florida, Texas, and other Southern/Southwestern states, and California.

Thus, they will be able to say there are a lot of cases there, as the bluer states will have false negatives.

Well, I'd suspect this was planned if I thought the Biden administration was that competent.

As Mark Twain almost said, "a lie can travel halfway around the world before Hunter Biden even puts on his pants."
