Waiting for the movers.  The next few hours should be sheer chaos.

Good morning. I would recommend you just focus on the interim goal, being out of the house finally. (Clearly I missed some news.)

In other useless news, I've never eaten an orange with a fork, as above. I wonder if using a fork actually works.

Anyone attending the Olympics in China (including athletes, media, and spectators) must install a special app on their phones - that has several security flaws.

Or intentional features?

It does not validate server certificates, which allows other hosts to impersonate sites.

And it sends unencrypted data

"However, we also found that some sensitive data is transmitted without any SSL encryption or any security at all. We found that MY2022 transmits non-encrypted data to 'tmail.beijing2022.cn' on port 8099.

These transmissions contain sensitive metadata relating to messages, including the names of messages' senders and receivers and their user account identifiers. Such data can be read by any passive eavesdropper, such as someone in range of an unsecured WiFi access point, someone operating a WiFi hotspot, or an Internet Service Provider or other telecommunications company."

China has not replied.

Oh, I'm not moving - it's stuff from mom's house that's being delivered.  I've gotten rid of piles of old furniture/crap.

Ah, okay. I should have realized that. I blame still being asleep even though I'm banging on the keyboard.

I did a cartoon years ago of a bunch of people moving a religious community's very simple furniture.  The caption was "Movers and Shakers."

Went to make coffee, and the coffee maker wouldn't turn on. 1-cup drip, not that expensive, but can only find it on Amazon.

Used our "4" cup drip maker instead; will order a replacement. (called 4 cup but makes 2)

While cleaning the larger one, saw a fox in the yard, and another one further up the hill. There is a tree that has a lot of holes and is basically a squirrel tenement, so I think that is what the foxes were after.

Did take pictures from inside, so they need enhancement. Will post one or so later.

I first heard "Paradise By the Dashboard Light" as a short-feature warmup to a late showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.  Made sense in retrospect, since Mr. Loaf had a part in that film.

You need a new Mr. Coffee, to accompany your Mr. Radar.

If drinking coffee is Ahab-it, you need a Flask of Starbuck's.   They'll even punch your order Stubb for a free coffee!

Heh.  Funny you should mention it, just last night I was thinking to myself, maybe it’s time for me to re-read “Moby Dick“.

You are welcome to it. I have never been interested in Moby Dick

I read it a few years ago, and found I was rooting for the whale 1/3 of the way through. Whale sure took its time.

When I was young, we'd go to a restaurant in NH, called "Yoken's". They had a whaling theme, and even did serve whale meat.

The place has closed but the sign has been preserved:

it is a hard slog of a read, and there are certainly parts of it that just kind of wander. But there are other parts that are just breathtaking.

In DC we have “Moby Dick House of Kebab”.  Which is Persian.  Because, why not.

The truck was almost 2 hours late, but it only took them a little over an hour to unload everything, including a grand piano.

If you have found good, honest and efficient movers... that's a minor miracle.

It was a company my cousin uses for his realty company. Cost was considerably less than I'd expected and overall they did a good job.  Only real hiccup was that they left the hardware for attaching the piano lid at mom's house, but that was on my brother-in-law.

there was a thread on that at Instapundit earlier today, with a surprising number of posters seemingly unable to figure out just because “there is no speed limit on the autobahn“, does not necessarily mean that what these guys did was necessarily a good idea, or even, for that matter, legal.
