Good morning.  High-profile Progs (e.g. "The View") call for Tucker Carlson and Tulsi Gabbard to be "investigated", imprisoned, for questioning the narrative on Ukraine.

They say, "scratch a 'Progressive' and you'll find a totalitarian."  I disagree.  No scratching is required.

And "let me be clear", as Barack Obama always said, because apparently we all, constantly, stood in the way of his being clear: yes, I think it is right and proper that we assist Ukraine in fighting back against what is clearly Russian aggression by a would-be neo-Soviet-imperialist Putin.  But there are legitimate questions to be asked about this whole thing; and even the illegitimate questions - well, there's this thing called the 1st Amendment.

There is a very obvious line being drawn to say the first amendment does not allow certain types of speech, such as unpopular opinions or things that go counter to the Progressive Narrative. The ACLU was once the group who were standing up for the Ku Klux Klan . How far they have fallen. 

Remember when they used the phrase, "I will stand against everything you stand for, but I will support your freedom to speak it"?

Survey here:  How do you think the Ukraine invasion is going for the Russians?  In general terms?

At Insty, for example, both the cited sources and commentary range from "this is a total disaster for the Russian military", to "it's basically going according to plan".

Russians are in trouble. Their logistics are breaking down.

I don't see a path to victory for them. Even if the grind the Ukraine military down, occupy and displace the Ukraine government, they have a long term insurgency on their hands.

Sure Putin is right, Ukraine is a "traditional" part of Russia / Soviet Union going way back. However Ukrainians never liked it, and always considered Russia as occupier.

As more becomes apparent in Russian, Putin loses support. You can only suppress the information so much. People not hearing back from their sons in the military will spread that word. Russians are very creative at bypassing social media blockages, I've seen where they are using restaurant reviews to spread news, or placing text in pictures, then sharing the pics on different platforms, no text for the filters to catch that way.

I don't see a path to the win Putin thinks he will get.

But there is some serious weirdness. On one hand, I'm hearing "Russia will turn to China for help." On the other hand, I've heard, "The Russian convoy got bogged down because of cheap Chinese tires." So why would Russia go back to a vendor that screwed them over? 

I don't know. I'm not getting enough signal over noise.

There is a LOT of misinformation being spread in this war. 

There was the report Russia asked China for help. China denies it.

There was a report Bennett (who has been mediating between Putin and Zelenskyy) suggested Zelenskyy surrender; BOTH Israel and Ukraine deny it.

There is other strange stuff happening - a mystery drone carrying a 120 KG bomb (that's 264 lbs) crashed in Croatia, but on soft dirt, so no real damage

It seems like all the girls in my Youngest Boy's 8th grade class are declaring themselves to be trans.  I wonder how many will start hormone treatments - with some of the parents I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they already are.

Any parent who does that needs to get the millstone around the neck and into the depths of the sea treatment.

Given the teachers involved, I'd say not at all.  They are all pretty sensible.  It's the parents who are the problem.
