Better yet, how many tens of people will realize that going nuts over this doesn't change anything and is just simply wasting brain cells?

Good morning.  That's a yummy-looking breakfast; I just hope we'll still be able to cook something like it in the near future.

Nowhere in that article was it explained why exports will stop. If I have time, I might go and see if I can find out more. But that article was singularly unhelpful.

Yeah, I was thinking along the same lines.

Will, CAN Elon clean house at Twitter?

Also remember, and but most people won't. The deal isn't done for at least 6 months. The regulators have to approve it. Then how long for things to change at Twitter? A year?

I found this article claiming this export ban was put in place to make sure oil was available for people within Indonesia. But if palm oil is their biggest export, why the shortages? This article seems to explain more.

There are rumblings linked to at Instapundit about more generalized cooking/edible-oils shortages, linked to (maybe?) the Uke war, ongoing supply chain issues, etc.

I've suddenly found a renewed interest in air fryers... (which, yes, I know, do better with a little bit of cooking oil, for some dishes).

Most of the soybeans and soybean oil is sourced out of Ukraine.

Meanwhile the Biden Admin is pushing farmers to let fields lie fallow... for climate change of course.

It is hard to not come to the conclusion that these people want to kill a bunch of us through famine.

And I'm sure the NY Times will insist there is no famine.

Not so much famine, as shortages.

The the call will be for the gov't to control distribution and allocate supplies.

Roll in the social media scoring....

Need to update an old Soviet joke:

Everyone hears that a market has meat.

Line grows. A couple of hours in, "We aren't getting as much meat as we thought. Anyone who isn't white, BIPOC, LGBTQ, go home"

Line gets shorter.

Many hours later, "We are not getting any meat at all. Everyone go home"

A Black gender-fluid individual sees a white man who had been in line earlier and screams "You white guys have such privilege!!!!!"

I just watched most of this, livestreamed; the link should now be a recording.  A retired F-14 pilot, talking with a British guy who seems quite expert on military affairs, regarding the situation in Ukraine.  Very interesting.

That may be true in Western countries, but I rather doubt it will simply be shortages in other locations.

As with almost every famine since the end WWII. The primary cause is not weather related, or drought. But a political failures of The State, a failed State, or in the case of the Holodomor crimes of The State.

I hate to shoot my reputation for obscure slang knowledge all to hell, but frankly I've no idea.
