Well... it's complicated.  Yes, the AR-15 platform rifle was designed to respond to a request for proposals by the US military.  The semi-automatic version was offered for sale on the civilian market by 1964 (IIRC).  But it's not a lie to say the rifle was designed as a military rifle.  To which the correct response is; so what?  The 2nd Amendment is not about deer hunting.

Lawyers for Sussmann deny that he lied, saying that it was impossible to know with certainty what he told Baker since they were the only participants in the meeting and neither of them took notes.

Flynn was "interviewed" by the FBI, and there were no notes, or altered notes, and Flynn was convicted of lying to the FBI.
