So officially the Yahrzeit. Oddly I'm feeling better than I did a couple days ago.

This past Sunday was the dedication of the headstone for my late LibFriend whose Left-leaning opinions I occasionally discussed here, and whom I had to arrange to have taken to the hospital when she collapsed just before Thanksgiving 2020. It turned out she had an inoperable and ultimately-fatal brain tumor. I had to keep tabs on her in the hospital while waiting for her brothers (one in Idaho, the other out of the country) to arrive and take charge---this was during the heyday of the lockdowns and travel restrictions. Towards the end of her consciousness she did not recognize me. I wouldn't say that the sparsely-attended dedication provided "closure"---I don't know what that means, and the memories and loss remain---but it did offer a sort of coda to that rather horrific episode.

I second buzz: May her soul be elevated.

Work is in the news: Amazon to open new Kirkland [WA] plant to build Project Kuiper satellites The original plan was for manufacturing to be close to the launch facilities, i.e. FL. This puts manufacturing close to design offices and labs, they decided that was more important. This will ramp to 4 sats a day production. It won't end with the 3276 planned sats. The birds have a planned obsolescence, de-orbit and burn them up. The Gen2 are already in the planning stages, more bandwidth and high speeds.

it would be cool if Bezo's satellites were armed, and so were Musk's, and the had this great, big satellite battle royale in orbit.

So: Going to the Audi dealer for my regular service, or an independent shop. Thoughts?

One place we lived, we went to Sal's Garage because we heard the police chief went there. Excellent service. (And the place was run by Sal's wife, who was quite hot) Where we live now, we used an independent garage, but it went way downhill when the owner retired. Since then, we've gone to the Honda dealer. I note I got a better than expected trade-in on my last car because they had all the service records. I also understand the German manufacturers don't like to supply independent shops with all the info they need. Never had a problem with Jap cars. In fact, one place I bought a Honda also sold Volkswagens. Same place, same service department, and I could see the difference in the way they treated VW and Honda customers. Real nice to Honda customers; not rude but not as nice to VW customers. That is because Honda and Toyota use dealer ratings to set dealer discounts. I realize I didn't answer your question. If the independent dealer does enough with Audis, they are probably going to be as good and cheaper. If not, see if you can find some reviews. But remember, people who had a bad experience are more likely to review a place. I have had some good experiences with independent shops, but I drive a Honda, which does not keep their information priivate. And next time, get an Accord/////////
