6 Dead in Commemorative Air Force crash

B-17 with crew of 5, and a P-63 Kingcobra with 1.

Not sure who was out of their lane, but from the P-63 perspective the B-17 was in it's blind spot, the B-17 was behind the P-63s nose in the turn. I doubt the P-63 saw the B-17 until the last second.

I can't watch.

I know how much people think these planes should be flying but I am leaning towards grounding them all before they are gone.

I mean, in this case, it looks like your pilot error, not a problem with the air frame itself. But what do I know.

I love seeing them fly, hearing them, the smell of them when you get close to them on the ground.

There is nothing wrong with flying them, but accidents do happen like we see here.

So I can't argue against grounding them and preserving them. But that would a loss and shame to lose the experience of seeing them fly

This one wasn't mechanical, unless we find out there was control problem with the P-63 and that is way he flew out his lane.

It might be the air boss, the show coordinator, didn't do a proper job of planning and put the two planes in jeopardy, or the B-17 could have been out of their lane or the P-63 was.

Tragic loss first in human terms, 6 lives gone. Then historical loss of planes.

The footage I found hardest was the early footage where you can see the crew members before take off, and knowing what is going to happen.

I still haven't gotten over the loss of 9-O-9.

The plane was supposed to be there when I got to see the tour, but had engine problems.

I admit I don't know what to do about these flights. I'm not Solomon.

Hobson's Choice. Fly them, risk losing them, but also lose the awe of seeing and hearing them.

Ground them, and keep them.

VR for the experience, authentic reproductions? Can't be much more than restoring and keeping them flying,
