I hope y'all/youse had a happy Thanksgiving. Meanwhile... what will happen in China? Is the current wave of "white paper protest" merely another flash in the pan; something bigger, but that will be brutally and effectively put down a la Tiananmen; or something truly revolutionary?

I expect complete brutality. I truly hope to be wrong.

Reply to vxbush in 2: A problem is that the Chinese people themselves don't know what's going on. Chinese students I had in the past had never heard of Tiananmen. One even asked me "what is this? Everyone keeps talking about it." Supposedly CCP is flooding the internet with porn, attaching it to attempts by people inside to get news to the outside world. That way the threads on social media get blocked or at best spammed and flagged as inappropriate.

If enough people rise up, you would think they could take on the CCP--but without having guns and ammo of their own and a way to coordinate, they would have a hard time trying to imitate Poland's Solidarnosc with literally millions of people to shut the country down.

It would be kind of nice if those "Big Whites" outfits became too dangerous to wear in the PRC, attracting immediate beatings.

So, if you misguess someone's gender, is that a trans-omission? Better make it a standard you don't make that mistake, or you could automatically be in trouble.

And on another note, radio stations have largely moved to holiday music, as in "Tidings of comfort for goys"

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 15: Donald Trump did far better as president than expected---and far worse than he could have had he not shown an incredible penchant for picking incompetents, backstabbers, and timeservers to act as his lieutenants. Mr. "You're Fired!" hired some of the worst people he possibly could have. He has shown a similar error in judgment---indeed, it was so monumentally stupid as to not even merit being called "judgment" in hosting Kanye West and Nick Fuentes. Yes, it is reasonable to listen to other people, even those with whom one disagrees. But there are limits---and Kanye had already proven himself an ignorant fatmouth, and Fuentes had already proven and re-proven himself to be an ignorant, bigoted jackass. I would vote for DeSantis in a minute over Trump---even though I think that DeSantis really should stay where he is. DeSantis understands politics, and it is ever more clear that Trump does not, and never has.

I agree - and I think DeSantis has a better chance of winning, as he does not engender the revulsion Trump does. Trump is an NY dealmaker, not a politician or diplomat.
