Merry Christmas, and happy last night o’Hanukkah, as the case may be!

My 7 year-old son went with me to pick out a Christmas tree two weeks ago. He settled on one that was “not perfect-looking”, reasoning that it needed a good home and might be left behind if we didn’t pick it. The lad has a good heart.

Merry Christmas to all.

P.S. The tree actually looked quite nice once I put it up, and straightened out the branches a bit. Lovely, in fact.

Reminds me of the Charlie Brown Christmas Special

Were I the President of the United States, I would dispatch the first of our newest class of nuclear fast attack submarines on a Yuletide expedition under the Arctic ice cap,, to investigate for any signs of polar industrial activity. Just so that we could get the following headline:

Virginia: No, There Is No Santa Claus

if you were looking to do a submarine name pun thread, that’s an idea you should just skip, Jack

Plus the fraud alert from the bank. Spammers use stolen credit cards to get hosting accounts to sent out spam and harvest data..

Given the sensitivity of where I work, I don't want money coming to me that I have to explain.

However, posting on this blog, and perhaps finding more people for it would be a good repayment.

Just read a review of a book on scientific uncertainty that was written by an actual climate scientist.

The review, in SciAm, was written by a writter, not a scientist, but he criticized the scientist for pointing out the uncertainty in "climate change" forecasts and saying that the change might not be so bad. The critic even implies he might have been paid off by the fossil fuel industry, And yet the author was on the IPCC!

The book is The Primacy of Doubt: From Quantum Physics to Climate Change,
How the Science of Uncertainty Can Help Us Understand Our Chaotic World
by Tim Palmer

I might actually want to read it because of the review. The review does, however, remind me of how SciAm has gone woke and I might not want to renew my subscription.

Thank you Kosh.  That was very gracious of you.  I appreciate that you keep the door to this place open once again.

Happy Christmas and Merry Hanukkah to all!
