I don't expect this to go well. North Korea Elected to Serve on WHO Executive Board

A 2020 study using survey data from 383 North Korean defectors (the only real tool to measure its healthcare system given the insular nature of the “hermit state”) found that healthcare was rationed on political bases depending on proximity to the party and that almost half of the respondents had not received healthcare for their recent illnesses, along with other indicators of a failed system.

Does anyone think that Democrats want to do the same thing to right-leaning folks in the US given how they treated the unvaccinated as evil, selfish, and grandma killers? Will the WHO become the basis for such behavior worldwide and they just needed someone on board to show them how it's done? 

Or, it's simply a sop to China: 

Speculatively, the move could be due to WHO’s historically heavy reliance on funding from the Chinese Communist Party, the one and only major ally of the North Korean regime on the geopolitical scene.

That seems more likely to me, but the first scenario could still play a parallel plot line.

This seems like the most solid information I've found regarding the issues the Republicans have had winning elections lately. The Real Reason Republicans Always Seem to Lose the Close Ones

I know Republicans don't actually want to win, because they can't fundraise as much if they are in charge. So losing and going along with the Democrats is better for them politically; the country be damned. But this story is a useful piece of actual work on the ground and aligns with what doppelgänglander told us about her experience with the presidential election in 2012.
