I had guessed this was the case:

Navy Believed It Heard Titanic Sub Implosion Hours After It Started Dive, Reports Say

Something about the US response told me we knew the sub was lost.

The “anomaly consistent with an implosion or explosion” was heard by a secret military acoustic detection system the Navy uses to track down enemy submarines, according to officials interviewed by the Wall Street Journal.

The sound was picked up just hours after the submersible began its dive Sunday and came from a location within the vicinity of where the submersible was when communications went down between the sub and a vessel on the surface.

Neo-Nazis prefer Biden

“I would say a lot of what the world knows about white supremacists nowadays is smoke and mirrors. They’re far more pro-Biden than pro-Trump – Trump was too pro-Israel,” John Daly told the UK’s Jewish News outlet.

In a discussion about current white nationalism and antisemitism in the U.S., Daly mentions the disparity between media portrayals and his understanding of white supremacist groups, which are more than not from the progressive end of the political spectrum.

“There’s a stream of Nazis called ‘The Accelerationists’ who just want to see the world burn,” he told the Jewish News.

“They’re like ‘”We’re gonna take what’s already bad in society, amplify it to the point that there’s enough riots going on that hopefully other white people will say ‘this is bad, the only way to get safety is to join the Nazis’. That’s a very powerful group in America right now.”

I noticed there was no indication of how far away they picked up the noise or from what vessel, giving me hope that not all of our navy folks are woke and stupid.

H/t PJ Media: The Washington Post published an editorial today about the ways in which these dictators cooperate to maintain power. They learn what works by watching one another and then copying what works.

so if Biden is such good friends with Xi, then… .

The Left Can Have Islam or LGBTQA+. Not Both

The article notes how before the Muslim population was around 25% in a city, they would toe a liberal line and stand with the LBGT crowd. Once they reach 50%, though, it stops.

A couple of articles in today's WSJ on the Biden payola thing. Basically, Lesley Wolf in the DOJ squashed requests for sub poenas, fed information to Hunter's attorneys, and in many, many other ways undermined the investigation.  If the whistle-blowers are to be believed - and I think they should - the IRS had ample evidence to go after Hunter, but the DOJ, Ms. Wolf in particular, blocked it.  And there is no longer any doubt that Droolums McPoopypants was the "big guy" and that he was actively involved in shaking down foreign officials for money.

This is disgusting. The Bidens and most of the DOJ needs to be shot.

It would have been on the SOSUS net. The would have know exactly where also because of triangulation. However SOSUS data is classified. We really don't want people to know how good it is. So while I'm sure they communicated that with the principles of the incident.

We the Kursk went down, the president of the US knew before Russia naval command and Putin. We had a submarine observing the exercise. From what I understand when our navy called their command offering the use of the DSRV for a rescue it really upset them they didn't even know yet.

I sincerely hope we still have that capability, that that sort of thing has not been defunded on order to increase the diversity, equity and inclusion budget.

One thing I missed with the submersible.

The pressure hull was cylindrical. Every other deep submersible I've looked at the pressure hull was spherical.

Our naval subs have cylindrical pressure hulls but those published max depth is aroud 1500 feet. Add in safety factor and secrecy factors I think that would put max depth between that and 3000 feet.

Not only was the Titan's pressure hull cylindrical the cylinder was carbon fiber and the end domes titanium. The cylinder is a design problematic mixed materials introduce other issues. The materials have different behaviors at temperature and depth. That is a huge strain on the joint interface.

The Navy has a sonar array on the seafloor and places that are listening for enemy subs. Constant monitoring.

And carbon fiber deforms more under pressure, then develops cracks. OceanGate had supposedly some system for detecting cracks, but the guy they fired said that all that would do is give them a few milliseconds warning.
