Oldie but goodie.

Then, in the other corner, there is the Grey Tribe – the grey of reinforced concrete. This is a Tribe where emotion is repressed because Emotion Clouds Judgment. This is the world of Quadratic Equations and Stress Risers and Loads Torsional, Compressive and Tensile, a place where Reality Can Ruin Your Best Day, the place where Murphy mercilessly picks off the Weak and the Incompetent, where the Speed Limit is 186,282.36 miles per second, where every bridge has a Failure Load and levees come in 50 year, 100 year and 1000 Year Flood Flavors.

The Grey Tribe motto is, near as I can tell, THINGS BREAK SOMETIMES AND PLEASE DON’T LET IT BE MY BRIDGE.

RFK Jr has shown himself to be a loony

Robert F. Kennedy Jr: COVID-19 was specifically engineered to avoid harming Jews

Kennedy, the nephew of former US president John F. Kennedy, claimed that COVID-19 was a bioweapon that had been specifically engineered to impact white and black people, but to spare both Jewish and Chinese.

So, RFK Jr, why did the Chinese Communist Party go nuts woth lockdowns when it got loose?

“There is an argument that [COVID-19] is ethnically targeted," says Kennedy in the video. "COVID-19 attacks certain races disproportionately. COVID-19 is targeted to attack Caucasians and black people. The people who are most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese.

So I guess he considers Ashkenazi Jews a race.

Perhaps you bother because you have something of interest to say, and you know that eventually the rest of us will limp in, read it, and perhaps even comment on it.

Myself, I found the Greenfield article you posted yesterday to hit quite close to home; the year before I quit teaching in the wake of being forced to take "DEI" re-education camp (an experience about which I believe I wrote at the time), I got into a little hot water with my supervisors because I lectured my little dears about the evils of alterning vintage films to accord with modern sensibilities.

I was discussing the importance of copyright in ensuring the integrity of earlier works, pointing out that the disadvantage of something being in "the public domain" was that anybody could not only access it, but could alter it as they chose.  In giving examples, I not only mentioned some public-domain prose works by Mark Twain and O. Henry which had been altered in their online versions, but the practice of cutting out scenes from vintage movies for reasons of "racial sensitivity" when they were shown on television in the late '60s/early-mid '70s---a practice which has expanded to making some films entirely unavailable or, as Greenfield mentions in the article to which you linked yesterday, prefacing them---if they are made available---with preachy, fatuous little messages that tell you what and how you are supposed to think about the film.

In class, I mentioned the Marx Brothers film "A Day at the Races," which has a lengthy scene of blacks singing and dancing.  The sequence contains a great many stereotypes, and ends with the Marx Brothers escaping the sheriff by "blacking up" with axle grease from underneath a wagon so as to blend into the black crowd.  "Racial," certainly, and arguably "racist," though the blacks, stereotypes notwithstanding, were portrayed in a positive light---but the sequence also featured singing by Ivie Anderson, one of the great chanteuses for the Duke Ellington Orchestra, and an astounding jitterbug sequence by the Savoy Ballroom dancers.

I tried to point out that it is important to see things like this in context, weighing the good with the bad, rather than merely accepting what someone else tells you about how you're supposed to feel about it.  I was confronted by an angry, "woke" student (of color), who accused me of "supporting racism," and did not want to hear anything to the contrary.  IIRC, she actually flounced out of the class before it ended.  I reported this to my supervisors as a prophylactic measure, figuring that the best defense was getting my report/version of the incident in before the student kicked up a fuss.   That worked, but the next year's "re-education camp" told me it was time to leave before I ran afoul of the growing powers that be.

Not sure where I'm going with this; I merely wanted to recount my experience with the then-less-ubiquitous "wokeness" because your posts brought back the memories.

I’ve seen a reference at Insty that he is denying the story, but haven’t looked into it yet.

Thanks. I rarely see any replies to my comments.

A Day at the Races is actually next on my list of Marx Brothers movies to watch. I have two sets comprising all their movies, and I have been watching them in order when I am in the mood.

Well, in the article Kosh posted, there was a brief video of RFK Jr. talking, and he seemed to be drawing an inference that covid hit Ashkenazi Jews and Asians less than others.   It was not quiiiiite at the level of "Da Jews wuz in on it!"---it was couched more as an "observation" on the alleged "effects"---but it had something of the feeling of someone tossing a lit match into the powder magazine.

I will say the Dems have left me with no one that I can actually vote for; a process they started when throwing Joe Lieberman out.

The difference between the Democratic Socialists and the National Socialists are that they will tolerate "court Jews" for a while. The problem is, the leftist Jews think if they try to blend in, they'll be accepted, despite all the evidence that they will not.

Was There Just a Jihad Terror Attack in Fargo, North Dakota?

On Friday afternoon, police in Fargo, North Dakota, responded to a report of a car crash at 9th Avenue South and 25th Street South. Fargo Police Chief David Zibolski said it was a “routine traffic accident,” but what happened when they arrived on the scene was anything but routine. A Fargo resident named Mohamad Barakat, 37, opened fire on the officers, killing one and injuring three others. Zibolski said that Barakat attacked the officers “for no known reason,” and authorities have as yet offered no hints as to the shooter’s motive. One of the most obvious possibilities, however, is being steadfastly ignored, as one might expect given today’s media narrative.

Mo known reason, eh?

Re: Iran:

Had I been president when the US Embassy was taken, I would have stated that it was a declaration of war on the US, and restricted all Iranian diplomats in the US (they could defect, however).

And give them 24 hours to release the embassy and captives, before the US considered all Iranian diplomatic sites to lose displomatic status, just as Iran did to the US. Meanwhile, all sites would be blockaded.

All Iranian ships, aircraft, etc. would be considered enemy property and subject to sinking or shootdown for military, and capture and seizure for civilian.

And nowadays, I would be threatening Iran with something similar. If they seize ships that are operating legally, Iranian vessels can be seized. And the IRGC (sp?) would be considered pirates; their vessels subject to being sunk and any captured tried as pirates.

Finally, I would tell Iran either act like a responsible country, or the US will support regime change. That is the only solution, and the Iranian people would be much happier.
