Good morning.

Ecuador used to be a relatively safe country (by Latin American standards); I felt pretty comfortable when I'd go to Quito on business.

Now, it's looking like Colombia in the mid 1980s.

The national homicide rate has also more than tripled since 2020.

I was reading some on Jalisco New Generation Cartel the other day.

Makes MS13 look like choirboys, not really, but you get my point. They are just in it for the drug profits. There are in business for power and will do ANYTHING for it, and pure terror is their favorite tool.

Sounds like a fun, youth-oriented ad campaign.... but, yeah, it's not.

Years ago I had a delightful student from Equador.  She's the only person I've ever known to have shot and killed anyone outside of war.  She was defending the family home from attack.

Or just let kill each other and let the devil of your choice sort the out.

And she couldn't have instead engaged the so-called "attackers" in peaceful dialogue, to discover the root causes of their rage and frustration?  (Which was almost certainly... the effects of white supremacy.)

Joe Biden is so bad and incompetent, I'd vote for Christie should he be the Republican nominee.

Mere incompetence and policy fecklessness would be a vast improvement over the financial and legal corruption of the current regime.

I'd prefer to see him smeared with honey and staked out on an anthill, but yeah.
